Daytime Drum Practice - Daytime Drum Practice

If you want to get some drum practice in, but don't have a kit, or can't setup your own kit in your house, then come to Firebird Studios and use ours! We have all kinds of drum sets from 18" bop kits to 22" rock monsters! They are all well maintained and are regularly reskinned to ensure that you get a great sounding kit every time. You'll also get a snare drum and cymbals as part of the hire as well.

You also have access to a laptop stand, mini mixer and in room pa to playback the tracks you're working on. We have a free on site car park with plenty of space and brew some of the best coffee you're going to get in a rehearsal studio courtesy of Bristol Twenty Coffee Company.

We charge just £9.50 per hour for all of this, plus you get to use a kit that actually gets maintained and isn't broken or missing vital parts on it. We can also hire you just the shells and you bring your cymbals and snare for £8.50 per hour!

You can book your practice session from 10am - 7pm Monday - Thursday and 10am - 6pm Friday.

Saxophone Teacher - Garrick Wareham - We offer private saxophone lessons at Firebird Studios. First and foremost you have to enjoy playing and be inspired to practice and we strive to create that with the lessons we teach.

Garrick is a classical and jazz saxophonist (grade 8 ABRSM), teaching alto and tenor saxophone to all ages and skills. Garrick’s saxophone experience ranges from classical performances to playing alto and tenor in jazz, funk, big band and wind band arrangements for almost two decades. Garrick’s approach to tuition is to support his students in what is most inspiring and interesting to them, whether it’s exploring new songs and artists, pursuing grades and technical skills, or expanding their musicality and general musicianship.

It's designed for young musicians aged 10–18 who've been playing for at least six months and want to know what it feels like to be in a proper band. Every camper is matched by ability, so nobody gets left behind and nobody gets held back.

PAT Testing - We now offer PAT testing at Firebird Studios. It costs £1 per test and can include amplifiers, power leads, active PA speakers, power amps, keyboards, laptops, tablets, basically any electronic item you use as part of your performance.

What is PAT testing?

The Portable Appliance Test is a test to check that your electrical equipment is electrically safe and not likely to cause harm to you or anyone around you. This comprises of a visual inspection and electrical test – typically using a PAT testing machine.

Why should I PAT test my equipment?

Mainly because it’s good to know that your equipment is safe and shouldn’t cause any issues at your gig. If something goes wrong at the venue and the electrics pop for some reason, it’s a great way to prove that your equipment was unlikely to be the cause of it.

Also, your insurance policies typically ask for it as part of the requirements of getting the insurance in the first place. If you don’t have a valid PAT test, then they have the perfect reason to refuse your insurance claim and no one wants those weasly tinkers to get out of doing what’s right by you.

Do your rooms come with equipment? - Our rooms come with a pa and microphones as standard, but if you need guitar amps or drum kits, then there's an extra charge for them. So why do we charge for our equipment hire?

The reason that we charge for the equipment is two fold. Firstly, we're on the ground floor with great load in access and so people generally enjoy being able to bring their own equipment and use it at an angry volume. This becomes tricky if you've got a room full of equipment already in place.

Secondly, we don't want to charge you for something that you don't use. If you book a room and the equipment is already in there, then you're paying for the equipment within your room hire fee. We think people should only pay for what they use, so each item is hired separately. The hire fee is minimal (£1 - 2.50 per item per hour) and that hire fee goes towards the maintenance of the equipment.

We service our amps regularly and change the drum kit heads at least once - if not twice - a year depending on usage. This can all quickly add up cost-wise, but we want to keep this going so that you guys get good quality equipment to use if and when you need to use it. We've all been to those rehearsal rooms that have free equipment in them and it's almost always completely trashed and pretty unuseable.

Are your rooms on the ground floor? - Yes they are is the simple answer.

Our 6 rehearsal rooms are on the ground floor next to our car park, which is big enough to fit most of the bands that come to rehearse with us. We also have a big roller shutter entrance so you won't have any issues getting your equipment through the doors either. We even have a selection of trolleys for you to use to get your gear into the studio.

No more hu***ng gear up and down stairs or dealing with annoying corridors that go on forever. Just park, unload, walk into room, setup, play.
