Avon Harmony A Cappella Chorus

Avon Harmony A Cappella Chorus Love singing? Avon Harmony is Bristol’s award-winning SSAA women’s chorus, known for big energy, great music, and a genuinely welcoming vibe. What's not to love?

If you're 18+ and fancy being part of something uplifting and fun, come along to a rehearsal and try us out! We absolutely adore singing, and Avon Harmony has been sharing this joy in Bristol since 1975! Our wonderful singers come together because we love singing in harmony - and it's such a delightful break from our busy daily life where we improve our singing skills. Our repertoire is filled wit

h a delightful mix of A Ca****la styles, featuring beloved modern pop, musical theater, swing, folk tunes, and timeless classics. As proud members of LABBS (Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers), we have been fortunate to win several awards for our performances over the years and do lots of singing in the community. Just because we can. We're a non-profit chorus who operates as a club, which means every penny we raise goes straight into bringing in vocal coaches to help us sing even better, as well as ensuring we have plenty of new songs to enjoy- all while keeping costs low. We love singing in our community, performing at concerts, hospitals, funerals, and weddings. This allows us to share our passion with the wider world and fills us with so much happiness. It truly brings us joy!

Many thanks to Lynne who came and coached us last night with numerous tips on how to perform our convention songs and get engaged with our audience. She’s brilliant.

Last night we couldn’t rehearse in our normal venue due to building works.

So we found ourselves a glorious air conditioned community centre for one night only (with a bar!). Then we practised performing to each other in two halves on their stage.

In fact, we had to turn the air con down as it got too cold for some people!

We finished up the night with a well received flash mob in the bar to the users of the social club.

It was quite far away from where we normally meet and we had to adjust our timing and start later - but it was exciting to do something different as a one off.

And that air con…. Absolute Bliss on a day that had been 34 degrees.

Tonight we had Sheila Rice - the original MD of AvonBelles from 1975, come and visit our rehearsal. Over time we renamed as Avon Harmony, but it’s all the same group.

Without Sheila, we might not be here today! Thank you for the music. LABBS - the Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers

Last night Avon Harmony joined with masses of other barbershop singers from our most local LABBS choruses (old and current) to help celebrate LABBS - the Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers 50th anniversary year.

There was singing, cake, catching up and joy meeting old current and new friends from across the region. Much thanks to Bristol Fashion Chorus to hosting the party.

We were joined by Bristol Fashion, Black Sheep Harmony, 9-5, Fascinating Rhythm and Cleeve Harmony Chorus.

Let’s do this more often!

⚠️ ☀️ Due to complete closure of Glenfrome school to pupils and hirers on Wednesday & Thursday because of the red weather warning - we will not be meeting at the school this week. The building cannot regulate in the high temperatures as it doesn’t have air con and to be honest - I think we would have melted and struggled with singing anyhow!!

Now what can we do instead?? I’m sure we’ll come up a plan.

We had an excellent time at our chorus bandstand concert in Keynsham Park this afternoon. The birds sang and the crowds filled the park stopping by to listen.

Several of our newbie singers sang in public for the first time - a super well done to them! Even if they’ve only had time to learn one or two songs, then we welcome them on stage for those as part of our community of singers.

It was also the debut performance of a new quartet called VoxCentric with singers from both AH and Amersham A Ca****la.

Tomorrow night’s Thursday rehearsal might be a hot one… so bring your water bottles and your fans 😅☀️

But honestly, there’s something really lovely about knowing that after busy days, work, family life, stress, aches, worries and everything else life throws at us… we’ll all still turn up and sing together.

Some people probably think choir is “just singing”, but it’s so much more than that.

It’s friendship.
It’s support.
It’s laughter.
It’s seeing familiar faces every week.
It’s walking in feeling tired or flat and walking out feeling lighter.

And somehow, even in a stuffy rehearsal room in a heatwave, singing together still feels like one of the best places to be 💙

Looking forward to tomorrow night with these wonderful women.

There we are!

About the Bands...
Avon Harmony A Ca****la Chorus

“Avon Harmony A Ca****la is a lively, award-winning women’s chorus in 2025 bringing four-part a ca****la harmony to life – no instruments, just voices (and quite a lot of personality).

Their repertoire spans everything from pop and swing to classic crowd-pleasers, all delivered with warmth, energy and a genuine love of singing together. Known for their tight, in-sync sound, they recently picked up multiple national “Most Improved” awards – a reflection of just how far they’ve come.

You’ll also hear from their brilliant quartets – smaller groups who love to dial up the harmony (and the fun) even further.

If you like music that lifts your mood and makes you smile, you’re in the right place.”

Malmesbury Concert Band

“This will be part of a busy summer schedule for the band, which will include playing at the Carnival Midsummer Festival in Abbey House, Malmesbury, at local fetes and bandstand performances in Swindon, Chippenham, Cirencester and Stroud.

The band will be playing selections from popular musicals, including “Cats”, alongside classical works, TV themes and famous film scores.
Director of Music John Holland said: “We are delighted to be playing again at the Keynsham Memorial Park. We were given a great reception when we played there last year and are much looking forward to doing so again this year.”
The Malmesbury Concert Band has around 25 playing members and is currently seeking clarinet, bassoon and horn players.”

Bring a picnic and seating and join us for a weekend filled with music. 🎵

Live music playing most weekends until the end of September 2026.
