Dancing the Elements is a drug and alcohol-free Conscious Dance event that's open to anybody who is curious, no matter your age or fitness level. This is a held space for you to come and be expressive with what’s alive in you. The invitation is to allow mindful movement to guide you to an inner landscape where you’re free to experience your spontaneous, authentic and embodied self. People who come
find it can be therapeutic, nourishing and liberating. There is no right or wrong way to dance here, no planned steps or choreography. Just come along with an open mind and a sense of wonder and a willingness to play and allow the body to move you and the music to open yourself up to whatever feels right,
The music is designed to keep you moving for the whole 2 hours by travelling through different styles and tempos. There will be gentle, non-obtrusive guidance to bring your awareness to the body, which you have the choice to follow. Otherwise you can just choose to follow your own dance and the flow of the music. Josh will bring his energy-intuitive approach to space-holding, live mixing and years of experience as a dancer, DJ, meditator and well-being practitioner to create an improvised musical journey. Josh is currently undertaking Facilitator and Embodiment training with "Dance the Medicine" and will be qualifying in January 2023. Guidelines:
The space is non-verbal during the dance so we can focus on being embodied. You are welcome to communicate with others through body language, but please keep words for outside of the space. Barefoot is ideal, as it helps connect us to the earth/ground. Please avoid wearing socks as they slip easily on the wood floor or trainers as they have too much grip so are tough on the knees. Be mindful of yourself and others boundaries on the dancefloor. Take responsibility for yourself but also be mindful of how your actions can affect others personal space. Please try and arrive on time. If you need to use your phone, please do so outside of the dancefloor. We discourage phone use so we can all be present in the space. Bring clothes that are comfortable to move in. Extra layers are good if you need to keep yourself warm. Please bring a bottle for water. Please refrain from wearing strong perfumes as some dancers may be sensitive to the smell. Parking is available outside the venue - just drive up the hill to St Michael's Parish Hall and you'll see open gates to your right where the car park is. Music from previous events can be listened to here if you're curious - www.mixcloud.com/djjoshsilver
