BAND RANT
Guys - we have to fu***ng support each other. There is no excuse aside from child/pet care, medical emergencies and work commitments - excuses such as being tired, bored or skint is NOT a valid reason to not stay and support other bands on an event - especially a local grassroots event.
Ideally no one wants a ‘bands watch bands’ event, BUT, at the very least that creates a crowd and atmosphere.
Energy is contagious and can be exponential if we push it as a bare minimum for our local events.
Watching and supporting the other bands on the lineup is also an investment and an opportunity to network. NO band has a god given right to a crowd, you have to earn it through graft, sacrifice and passion in what you do.
Treat others as you would like to be treated. Translation = Fu***ng stay and support each other.
The UK scene is healthy and has SO MUCH talent, but venues and promoters are still struggling and indeed, closing.
This message is just a rant, and the purpose is solely to highlight the obvious - if we want the scene to grow, we have to first BE the scene.
Rant over, and FMP love all the bands that have supported each other through thick and thin.
