Stone the Crones

Stone the Crones Supporting & celebrating the creative voices of older/aging/elder women. Poetry & spoken word events. Created and hosted by Beccy Golding.

Stone the Crones is about recognising the energy, wisdom, talent and creativity of older / aging / elder women. Bristol’s women have long been at the cutting edge of creativity in the city – it is important that as they age their experience, skills, cultural capital and strong fierce voices are not lost. Expect open mic slots and two headlining sets from established older / aging / elder women poe

ts / spoken word performers. Audience is open to all - every age, gender and community is welcome. There may be some audience participation and games but don't worry there will be no pressure - this is a welcoming, friendly, supportive event with feel good vibes. After the formal event there will be time to hang out and socialise to a backing track of classic 80s tunes. The venue is the gorgeous café at Windmill Hill City Farm*, spilling out into the farmyard if the weather is good. There will be bar snacks, hot & cold drinks & alcohol available to purchase at the counter.

*Windmill Hill City Farm is in Bedminster, South Bristol, abut 15 minutes walk from the centre of town, on good bus & train routes. Funded by Bristol City Council Originators Fund. Thanks to Kate Evans for the image - see more of her work here www.cartoonkate.co.uk

We're sorry that we have made the decision to cancel the Moving through Landscapes afternoon later this month.
We still think it's a great idea to combine walking with creative writing, and will run the workshop in the future when the timing is better.
