Sourdure has been exploring the fringes of obscure soundscapes for the past decade, combining an experimental spirit with a personal, DIY approach to traditional musical instruments.

Diving into the traditional repertoire of the Massif Central area he has developed an idiosyncratic form of songwriting, in French and Occitan. Experimentation abounds; a practice of violin playing and singing rooted in popular tradition, a poetic research in Franco-Occitan bilingualism and a long habit of cooking with various electronic tools.

Rave At Your Fictional Borders is eclectic as hell but also completely cohesive! From Italian library music at one moment into psychedelic jazz or ritualistic desert blues or Chicago post-rock the next. Peppered with expressive vocals and the fizzed twangs of the guitar.

You can trace their influences, but it remains difficult throughout to place the music itself. The fusion, if it’s even correct to call it that, feels genuinely holistic, created through shared interests and an open-minded ear for sonics rather than an attempt to follow the well-trodden path. Like the best krautrock or gnawa music, ‘𝘼𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙪𝙚 𝙉𝙤𝙢𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙢‘ is an album that lives and dies on the strength of the groove.

Embarking on their debut European tour, New York based collective NUKE WATCH are coming to The Rose Hill next week!

Specialising in a blend of free-jazz fusion and textured polyrhythm, they're prolificacy is off the scale. They'll be releasing their new album the day after they play The Rose Hill.

Hybrid and exploratory, Sourdure‘s music reveals itself in many facets: baroque inventions on traditional canvas, vociferous carnivalesque odes, stylistic borrowings from oriental music, sonic orfevrery marked by concrete music… Combined with the acoustic rusticity of the violin or the dotar (a Central Asian lute), electronics do their alchemical work, disturbing sound objects, altering perceptions and the course of time.

Extremely prolific, to the question “are you making new music?”, they are among the few chosen ones who can consistently reply: “always.” They stick to the process of recording as a relentless practice of figuring out what instruments can do; an exploration transpiring from each work.

For the last 6 years, New York sampledelia and synthesis rhabdomants Nuke Watch, duo of Aaron Anderson and Chris Hontos, also known for alternative projects and spinoffs like Beat Detectives and Weird S**t U.S.A. 2, have consistently composed and released 𝙘𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙛𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙥𝙨𝙮𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙘 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 bridging the gap between the post-hippy movement wastelands, the weirdest fringes of urban beatmaking subcultures, and the wild American DIY avant-garde and noise traditions for labels like The Trilogy Tapes, There (RVNG), Post Present Medium, Patience/Impatience.
