White Wall Cinema A Brighton pop up cinema community. Much of today's film culture is centred around mass release hype movies like The Avengers, or 50 Shades of Grey.

It is our mission to screen a variety of alternative, fun, interesting, unusual, cult, and all time classic films in intimate locations around Brighton. We want to bring an alternative option where people can enjoy cinema that won't grace the screens of your local multiplex. We want to provide a place not only for new exciting cinema, but lost & undiscovered gems of the past, alongside cult favourites & definitive cinematic classics that whilst widely known about, still seem to remain unseen by the vast majority of the people we speak to and are rarely seen on a big screen. All of this in a fun informal friendly "pop up" environment where discussion and a deeper understanding of these movies can occur pre and post screenings.

When musical theatre actress Laura Franco, played by Scream franchise stalwart Melissa Barrera, finds herself dealing with the triple blow of cancer recovery, a split with her boyfriend and no job prospects, she takes refuge in her mother’s New York townhouse. There, she discovers that her long forgotten childhood monster in the closet is still in residence. Once she gets over the initial shock, Laura finds strength in her new companion and finds a way back to the stage.

Don't sleep on Donnie Darko tickets coming this Halloween (screening Oct. 29th) at White Wall Cinema. Already flying out, we reckon grab your tickets now.

Set in the suburbs of Virginia in the late 1980s, Donnie is an awkward and troubled teenager who survives a freak accident, only to find himself having visions of a six-foot-tall bunny rabbit named Frank, who informs him that the world will soon end.

As Donnie tries to unravel the mystery, a high-school bully, time tunnels, Halloween parties, a mysterious elderly neighbour, and a burgeoning friendship with fellow troubled teen Gretchen all complicate matters.

The near-perfect atmosphere of the film, with its beautifully created rhythm and stylish storytelling, grabs you right from the off and never lets you go.

Friday night at WWC these two buddies, one winding down his career (with a Best Actor Oscar win in this case) and one just kicking off his - mirror those dynamics in Martin Scorsese’s overlooked classic The Color of Money 8pm tomorrow.

Paul Newman was in his 60s here just as Tom Cruise is in his 60s now. It's a full circle moment for so many reasons to see these performances by the both of them but in the end what matters is this a truly great film with universal themes all delivered with the perfect dose of Scorsese’s idiosyncratic approach that would later become the blueprint for so many other filmmakers. Not to be missed on the big screen, this is a film people are going to be talking more and more about in the coming years.

"And his hair was perfect" - This Friday Martin Scorsese’s 'The Color of Money with Tom Cruise starring alongside an Oscar winning performance from Paul Newman (Cool Hand Luke, The Sting) and an Oscar nominated turn by Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio (Scarface, The Abyss)

Powered not by sentiment but by the flawed human nature of its characters, The Color of Money is a joyful expression of two cinematic masters at the height of their talents, Newman and Scorsese, that simultaneously gives us an early glimpse of the extraordinary screen presence and raw energy that would come to define Tom Cruise. The direct lineage between this bombastic performance and the one featured in Alejandro González Iñárritu's 2026 film Digger couldn't be clearer.

Rural British Horror from one of America’s greatest directors Robert Altman this Halloween season on Tuesday, October 27th - IMAGES (1972).

Lead actress Susannah York is brilliant as the sometimes terrified, often paranoid and frequently dissociated lead of the film, winning the Best Actress award at that year's Cannes Film Festival.

York also co-wrote the script with Altman, creating a kaleidoscope of terror built around the central character's inner psyche.

Rich in visual metaphor and thick with cinematic atmosphere, the film's disturbing, dream-like quality falls somewhere between Sam Peckinpah's Straw Dogs and Ingmar Bergman's Persona.

🐰 🪓 ANNOUNCEMENT 🐰 🪓 Thursday Oct. 29th Halloween special - 4K restoration of Donnie Darko at WWC.

It’s been 25 years since Richard Kelly’s directorial debut, Donnie Darko, opened in cinemas in the wake of 9/11, finding itself in the wrong place at the wrong time, only to steadily build a global following over the next decade and firmly cement its place as the key cult classic of its era.

Still as potent as ever 25 years on, the hypnotic, poetic, nostalgic, and yet joyously fresh sensibility of this miracle of a film remains firmly intact.

See it at WWC as the perfect pre-Halloween treat on the 29th, plus you can also choose to nab yourself a joint discounted bargain double ticket to also see Richard Kelly's notorious follow up to Darko, his sophomore feature Southland Tales screening in it's infamous 'Cannes Cut' a month later on Dec 2nd. || What is secret movie club? ||

Our "Secret Movie Club" project takes a movie you most likely haven't seen before (but will instantly love) and keeps the identity of the movie a secret, only revealing which film you are watching when the opening credits roll. The aim is to provide you with a brilliant forgotten or overlooked gem from cinema's past or present (or perhaps even a major, but lesser screened cult classic). Every time we do these events we get such phenomenal feedback from you guys. It's incredibly rewarding to have people say to us they had never even heard of the movie we screened for them, but that it is now instantly among their favourites!

|| Dining With The Devil ||

For this Halloween special we are showing something that couldn't be described as a horror movie but rather a devilishly funny, thought provoking hidden gem with a macabre sense of humour about meeting someone who could well turn out to be the most awful person you ever met. With its overlooked female director and cast featuring many a familiar face this film has only become more relevant since its initial release when it was criminally overlooked. Jet black humour, moments to make you squirm and plenty of food for thought about the world in which we live in it comes highly recommended as some pre-Halloween fun that offers a both a few gory thrills as well as a dose of enjoyable satire.

As ever, the film will be kept a tantalising secret until the opening credits roll.
