why get a STEM Mixdown & Master rather than just a single audio track mastered? 🤔

if you stick headphones on or play this on studio speakers you can hear why.. 🔈

one of my engineering clients and good friend Gus One kindly suggested I use his latest project as a demo for why getting your track mixed down 1st is a good idea. for this project i bounced out the mixdown he had in his Ableton project to play in Ozone as a reference. I also bounced all his stems out and put them in Logic to work on so i can process them all individually. he also said I could change the piano sound if i wanted so i exported the MIDI he was using for his piano channel and used my own preferred piano plugins to replace them with to make them sound bigger and better. I also timed and tuned the vocals up before balancing and mixing the whole track in Logic using all my favourite UAD plugins. Now it's sounding clearer and bigger already i can then add the mastering to the main output.

Have a listen to the before and after in this video below and if you think your tracks could do with a proper mix down, perhaps some editing and extra production and then finally mastering give me a shout. ✊
