Jill Edwards blazed the trail over thirty years ago by creating the original groundbreaking UK Stand-Up Comedy Course in London in 1994, which Time Out's Malcolm Hay hailed in 1996 as "the place to go for anyone with serious hopes of getting their act together." In 2005, Jill moved to Brighton, created Chortle Award Winning "Comic Boom comedy club" and the original and the best Brighton stand-up comedy courses, based at award winning comedy venue Komedia Brighton. Jill works with the Komedia to fulfill a remit to facilitate and encourage new comic talent to emerge from Brighton and across the country. Jill is at the centre of the thriving Brighton comedy scene, most of the established local comedy clubs are run by her stand-up comedy course graduates. Jill Edwards stand-up comedy course graduates created the original "buzz" about the great new comics coming out of Brighton. They continue to do Jill and the Komedia proud, regularly winning awards, competitions and breaking through on television. Jill Edwards has been working professionally in the comedy industry the whole of her adult life. She has a wealth of ongoing knowledge and experience in the comedy business first as a stand-up and now as a comedy teacher and comedy promoter. She's involved in creating like the Komedia New Comedy Award, and judging national new act competitions. Jill is a member of the Advisory Board for the Live Comedy Association and has hosted a panel discussion with comedy industry experts for LCA members. Jill chaired a panel at the International Comedy Conference and has been a panelist for the Chortle Comedy Conference. Jill was the BBC's chosen Comedy Coach in the South for their "Comic Relief" project. She mentored Brighton's BBC Radio Sussex presenter Neil Pringle and appeared in BBC One's documentary about the project "Stand Up for Comic Relief." Jill taught the stand-up comedy courses in Brighton and London for the BBC New Comedy Awards. Jill scours the country to find the most exciting, original and fresh comedians for Comic Boom comedy club at Komedia, as well as for international gigs and one-off gigs including BBC South East's "Children in Need" benefit gig at the Trinity Theatre.
