If any of you applied for a table at the May Fayre and were told there were no spaces left there is a wonderful opportunity for you to still apply. Currently being advertised online. Presumably an additional area of lawn has been added to the existing pair in the churchyard to make this possible. Or perhaps the church is being moved further into the piazza to create extra room? For further details of this exciting offer read on.

Stall holders wanted for prestigious central London event.

We’re delighted to open applications for stall holders at the 2026 Covent Garden May Fayre & Puppet Festival, now in its 51st year and recognised as one of London’s most prestigious long running community festivals.

This year we’re excited to be opening up additional space for new traders, alongside the much loved vendors who’ve been part of the May Fayre for 30 years or more. It’s a wonderful chance to join a cherished tradition in the heart of Covent Garden.

We welcome artisan makers, heritage crafts, quality food vendors, and creative traders who can add to the colour and character of the day. We’re fully covered for ice cream, but all other food and craft stalls are warmly invited to apply.

The festival takes place on Sunday 10th May 2026, at St Paul’s Church, Covent Garden, attracting thousands of visitors throughout the day, with early footfall from 9am and trading from 11am–5pm.

If you’d like to be part of this historic event, please get in touch at [email protected].

Pitches are limited, so early applications are encouraged.

We look forward to welcoming new faces to the May Fayre family.

In a strikingly real parallel universe May Fayre 2026 has been taken over by a shadowy entity and its loyal stooges. Mr. Punch has been tied up in red tape and held hostage by the clipboard wielding Beadles of Bureaucracy who claim to have saved him. Can this be true? Can Judy and the crew of the WTF Enterprise come to his aid? To be continued….

News from the PJF Committee…..

Firstly, we hope you are enjoying the latest copy of the Swazzle which should be with most of you by now. We have already begun work on the next Swazzle which will be special and sizeable and ready around May.

Now, we are delighted to announce that the new President of the PJF is Glyn Edwards. We have also co-opted John Thursby to the role of Vice President.

Glyn will be known to many through his various activities including his performances, published books, and the major major events he has made happen. John has recently retired from performing but has always been a staunch advocate of Punch and was for many years the Treasurer and a long-standing stalwart of the PJF committee. We are fortunate to have them both on board.

End of the line? Bit of a long post, but hey! Last shows this weekend of what’s been a truly golden season with warm and appreciative audiences everywhere and lovely feedback. It took in the Clevedon Literary Festival, some fetes, street festivals, a show at the Amex Stadium Fanzone and a ticketed run of shows and activities at the West Pier Centre. Plus a project celebrating ‘Lost Wonders of Brighton Seafront’ which included outreach to a single parent dads support group and to disadvantaged areas of Brighton. We ended with shows for Brighton’s iconic Victorian electric seafront railway. (I’ve got a wet T shirt in the photo as it rained between shows and I did the final one under a leaking roof!). Anyway, I figured I’d not top that as a season and it would probably be as good a time and place as any to draw a line. Mary is giving up driving, granddaughter Roisin is starting her Musical Theatre degree course at Central – and exactly a hundred years ago my dad was touring the Welsh variety circuit as a child star tap dancer. Significant dates in the family calendar. Is this ‘retiring’? That’s a never say never word. I still have a booth stored at the West Pier Centre, but it’s certainly ‘retiring from touring’. It’s been a blast but I certainly shan’t miss setting the alarm for loading the vehicle at the crack of dawn!

Nice to chat with young Prof Eddie on the seafront yesterday. He brought his Mr. Punch to watch mine. (I first saw Mr. Punch about 250 yards from the spot we’re on. Mr. Punch was only about 288 years old at the time.)

On Wednesday i was in the High Street in L.A. (as Littlehampton is known to locals after a Ronnie Barker joke about holidaying in L.A. "Los Angeles? No, Little 'ampton). We love the town and its beaches. I bumped into a long lost Welsh relly I'd not seen for forty years and met a Lithuanian actor/storytelling elf who was so entranced with Punch that she wants to have a go with him when she returns home. I also got a jolly nice bit of feedback from the council.

"I just wanted to extend a heartfelt thank you for your absolutely brilliant Punch and Judy shows at our recent High Street event. Your performances were a huge hit—captivating audiences of all ages and creating such a joyful atmosphere throughout the day. We’ve received fantastic feedback from attendees, and it’s clear that your energy, humour, and talent made a lasting impression."

And we were sited just across from a Costa Coffee too. Cappuccinos on tap. Not a bad day!

It was the Naked Bike Ride in Brighton today as well as The March of The Mermaids. Judy took Punch for a quiet game of Deck Quoits at a local fete in order to keep him out of mischief.
