An announcement:
After working around the clock and against the odds to find a suitable venue to host Thee Oh Sees’ return to Brighton, it is no longer possible for the show to remain in the city. To avoid cancelling the gig altogether, I have had no choice other than to transfer the performance to De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill.
From the beginning, the Clarendon Centre were at best a headache, and at worst, a Lie Factory. The problem with a factory producing lies is that it becomes very hard to keep track of what you have been lying about. Suspicions were raised 6 weeks ago and the stench of fish only became more noticeable with each and every communication with the venue. Last week it finally emerged that the venue doesn’t, and never did have a license for live music. To say I’m pi**ed off is an understatement.
I appreciate that the relocation is not ideal for many and may mean that some of you can no longer attend. To anybody who can’t, I apologise. The only option to keep the show in Brighton was to move to the Centre, a venue nobody would want to see them at and taking production costs up to £27,000. I looked far and wide across Sussex, considering every possible option to keep the show in Brighton or the immediate surrounding area. Due to the large number of guests and the relative short notice, the closest available venue who were willing to host were DLWP.
De La Warr Pavilion is a majestic venue, built in 1935 and one of the best preserved examples of Modernist architecture in the country, located on top of the cliffs looking out to sea. The best venue in the south of England by some margin.
All tickets remain valid, refunds can be obtained up to and including 30th April 2017. The venue is much larger than Clarendon Centre and therefore an additional 600 tickets are now available. Regarding ticket allocation: Resident will be provided with a further 100 tickets, regular ticket outlets in Eastbourne, Bexhill and Hastings will be given small allocations. Tickets will be in shops before the end of the week, please stay tuned for further announcements as to when they are officially available. All further tickets are being sold through DLWP’s website and online ticket channels - https://www.dlwp.com/
The performance is now open to guests aged 14+ with under 18’s being accompanied by an adult. A full priced ticket is required for all guests.
To help with the relocation as much as possible I have organised coaches to run from The Harvester on Madeira Drive – De La Warr Pavilion, departing at 1730/1800/1830 and returning to Brighton at around midnight, dropping off at Odeon on West Street to make it easy for anyone wishing to attend the official aftershow party at Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar. Coach seats are unlimited, are slightly cheaper than the train, will leave from the venue between 2300-2315 and guarantee you a seat. Coach travel is highly recommended as there is only 1 train to Brighton from Bexhill after the performance and given Southern Rail’s track record… Coach tickets are available from this link - https://tinyurl.com/m94l45e
