Hi everyone 👋 Hisashiburi!
I hadn't intended to be away from social media for so long. We moved house earlier this year. One week I was preparing for a Mother's Day shop update and the next I was in the midst of an unplanned, unrelenting home renovation project.

Our new house had lots of surprises. One of these was that the electrical supply in what was going to be my studio, was not particularly safe and certainly not suitable for running a kiln. Because of this I haven't had anything new to share and appreciate that most people probably aren't here to see my amateur adventures in stripping wallpaper, filling holes in walls, tiling and painting. 👷🏽‍♀️

A huge thank you to anyone who is still here. I'm hopeful that there will be some more pottery updates over the coming months.

We made it through January! 😊

I can now see my tulip bulbs popping up through the soil. It makes it feel like Spring is a little closer.

I'm currently working on a batch of mugs with the same curved shape as the one in this picture. I made some handles during my lunch break today and they have been firming up so that I can attach them later tonight. After that I'll be waiting patiently for them to dry without any surprise cracks. 🙈

Happy New Year, everyone!

I thought I'd share some prototype soap dishes I've been working on. I've hesitated on making soap dishes in the past because I'm still torn about whether or not they should have drainage holes. Some wise friends have suggested offering both so I started by experimenting with designs that don't include holes.

Any preferences on these ones (the design rather than the glaze)? This isn't the best picture for showing detail but the bottom design in the pink glaze includes a carved ume hana (plum blossom) in the centre. In my next round of testing I plan to add more of a foot to the base and make the sides of the dish a little higher.

Today is the last day to order in time for Christmas with standard 2nd Class shipping. There are still a few items left in my store and any orders today will be posted tomorrow.

How's everyone doing? We are still healthy and safe here but our plans for the holidays were shaken up a little this week. 😔 It's awful to see how high the case numbers are getting again.

Stay safe and I hope you have a lovely weekend!

Any houseplant lovers out there? When I took these new planter pictures recently I compared them to ones I took around the same time last year. The variegated scindapsus in the blue pot only had 3 leaves (one of which later died) and now it's happily trailing away.

I probably should have waited until spring, but I just bought my first alocasia. I'm not sure if I'm ready for this, so any advice on keeping it alive is very welcome. 😂 😊

I still have some planters available in my shop. They make lovely gifts for plant parents.

I've been glazing again today. I made a few gifts that still have been glaze-fired so needed to add a couple of extras in to make it a full kiln load. My pace today is certainly much slower than it was in previous weeks.

I tried this glaze combination as an alternative take on my previous eggshell exterior and coloured inside style. I love this glaze but I'm not sure it will be the final one I settle on for this combination. I did really love the satin finish on the previous style so it was a shame to lose that. In any case, I've been very unsure about what to call this new glaze. I think it's currently called variegated milky pearl in my store(I'm terrible at naming things!), but that man not fully capture it. Do you have any suggestions for a name?

A huge thanks to everyone who placed an order and helped to spread the word about my shop update on Sunday. The parcels are now all wrapped and on their way. Hopefully they will start arriving soon.

Currently Royal Mail are saying the cut-off date for Christmas delivery is 18th December. I will be posting up until this point but I'd recommend ordering as soon as possible if you need something before Christmas. I know a few things I have ordered have been delayed already.

I make these bells on the wheel. I throw them upside down and the tidy up the top to make that lovely curved shape. They all have hand-carved patterns and are glazed with colours I've been experimenting with. Do you have a favourite?

My December shop update is now live!
...and breathe! 😂 It's been a very busy couple of weeks over here but I'm very excited to be able to share some new pieces and colours with you all tonight.

I'd like to offer a huge thanks to all those who have offered their support and kind words to help keep me powering on. I'm not sure I would have made it without you! xx I'm looking forward to a slightly slower pace this week.

I'm currently aiming for my next shop update to go live on Sunday 5th December. My kiln is working very hard this week. I'll unload a glaze firing tonight and hopefully start another one tomorrow morning. That also means I have a big night of glazing ahead of me. 😄😅

If all goes well, the update will include some mugs in new colours, mini jugs, hanging ornaments, soap dishes and a few more planters.

Ok, back to work now! ☺

I may have stumbled into dangerous territory! I had dreams of beautiful, tactile porcelain ornaments on my tree this year, so I bought my first bag of porcelain clay. I love the way porcelain looks and feels, but have always avoided it as it's not an easy material to work with.

I had a little gasp when I opened the kiln to see the effect of my glazes against the pure, white porcelain. I really love the colours that have come through, but I'm still not sure I'm ready to a) start testing another clay, and b) learn how to work with porcelain!  But...the temptation is certainly there! 🙊
