The Lyrics Hove King Alfred Centre, Hove - potential creation of new and additional leisure and community arts facilities for Brighton and Hove.

Vision:
We want to combine arts, sports and leisure facilities in an exciting and
high quality new venue on the King Alfred site in Hove. We think that there is significant unmet demand for cultural and arts
facilities and for new engagement opportunities in Brighton and Hove. We believe that the city needs:
• Additional performing arts space to provide a platform for locally
created work and for

community groups, as well as to present high
quality visiting performances.
• More gallery space where local artists can present work (fine art,
sculpture and crafts) and where there can be visiting installations
and presentations.
• Affordable making and creation space for performing arts, to
support emerging and local talent and community groups, enabling
work to be developed.
• More activity spaces where communities can participate in sport,
leisure and arts activity – dance studios, an accessible fitness
suite, full size swimming pool, arts workshops, rehearsal rooms etc.
• Facilities that provide new, creative education, participation and
learning opportunities for all ages.
• A new, multi art-form and leisure venue that is genuinely family
friendly, accessible and open for community activities. There is a potential opportunity to realise this vision on the King Alfred,
Kingsway site in Hove.

Arts Leisure and now Health team up to bid for King Alfred The Lyrics Hove

‘The Trust for Futurehealth ’, a social enterprise run by two local GPs has just announced that they are joining The Lyrics bid to develop the 4.3 acre site on Hove seafront.
