J A N E ✨ A U S T E N • Good morning from the beautiful historic city of Bath, with this portrait illustrated by my talented Canadian artist Meghann Rader. It’s wonderful to be here in Bath and we’re heading to Sally Lunn’s soon. ‘There were only two known portraits of Jane Austen created during her lifetime, both by her sister Cassandra. One is a view of her from behind, and the other is an unfinished front-facing sketch which, according to the National Portrait Gallery, “One of her nieces described as ‘a very pleasing sweet face, tho’ I confess to not thinking it much like the original’.”
Still, this portrait became the basis for most other Austen portraits to follow, including the one that I illustrated for Jane Austen’s Dowries & Dalliances! Swipe to see Jane’s original portraits!” Published by Chronicle Books and licensed by Jehane Ltd. ✨

A B B Y ✨ J A C O B S • Happy Friday! Inspirational new work by my talented artist Abby Jacobs as a tribute to Persephone. ✨ Abby Jacobs writes “After watching The Odyssey several weeks ago I was drawn back into Greek mythology and wanted to create some artwork around some favorite characters. Persephone is the queen of the underworld and has to split her time between the surface and the underworld. When she returns to the surface she brings vegetation and spring growth, life and renewal. When she leaves the surface to go back to the underworld, winter begins. Here she is with her two worlds and many of her symbolic items. Kudos to my daughter for reminding me of all of these stories. “ Wishing you a peaceful weekend reading your favourite book! Jehane xo

“So pleased to finally share this full piece with you all! This one was created for JEHANE | Agent, Artist, Mentor ‘s wonderful Out of the Blue showcase, more specifically for the Painted Light category. 🌟

Working on landscapes has always felt like something outside of my comfort zone so I wanted to challenge myself with this piece. Surprisingly, I thoroughly enjoyed the process of creating this sort of glimpse into a little world and would love to create more pieces like this. I specifically wanted to capture the soft glow of summer’s golden hour, when everything is cloaked in warmth and the plants and animals chatter about the happenings of their day.

The dragon was, of course, non-negotiable.🐉🐲”

G A R D E N ✨ F O L K • We’re starting the week with the brilliant new collection of garden critters by the one and only Katherine Quinn Katherine Quinn Inspired by flora and fauna... Katherine’s charming new series features animals holding the plants and flowers they are going to eat from her garden in New Zealand (apart from the hedgehog who is eating the insects off the flowers and the fox who has just picked the flowers to smell). Katherine writes “This theme for Out of the Blue 2026 was right up my alley and I had such a lovely time working on it over the past few months.” 💙🌱🌷✨
