Beside the Sea celebrates creative responses to the coast, the sea and life within it. Whether your inspiration comes from coastal landscapes, marine life, harbours, seaside memories, wildlife, beach finds or life beneath the waves, we’d love to see your interpretation.

🌊 OPEN CALL: BESIDE THE SEA 2026 🌊

Applications are now open for Beside the Sea 2026, our annual summer exhibition at Pretty Neat Gallery in Brighton Marina.

Living and working beside the sea, we're inspired every day by the beauty, power and character of the coast. Following the success of last year's exhibition, we're delighted to invite artists and makers to submit work exploring the coast, the sea and everything it inspires.

From shoreline to seabed, harbour to horizon, we welcome a wide range of creative responses across all media.

We welcome submissions in:
🎨 Painting & Illustration
📷 Photography
🧵 Textile Art
🏺 Ceramics & Glass
💍 Jewellery & accessories
🖨 Printmaking
🪵 Woodwork & metalwork
✨ Mixed Media and Contemporary Craft

Key Information:
• Open to artists and makers working within 25 miles of Brighton Marina
• Submit up to 5 pieces
• Original work only
• Maximum selling price £300 (including gallery commission)
• Application fee £5 or £20 depending on the price of your work

📅 Applications close: Tuesday 7 July 2026
