Everyone deserves to spend the run up to an event being excited about it. So many disabled people spend it dealing with ableism or worrying that they will face barriers.
In August of last year, I was lucky enough to attend the first ever All In wrestling pay-per-view by All Elite Wrestling. I’m a big fan and was excited to attend, but my experience was marred by issues buying accessible tickets. I had a wonderful time at the event itself (although I look rather nervous in the image as my favourite wrestler was coming dangerously close to being dropped on his head!) This year I will be attending again, and I have been able to talk to the access staff at Wembley Stadium about some of the issues I faced. I am still fighting an access battle though, as all the accessible seats are located far away from the wrestling ring, and as a disabled fan I would like the opportunity to sit up close like everyone else.
Image description: A photo taken in profile. Amy, a white woman with short dark curly hair and glasses, sits on a rollator. Her legs are bent, and her feet are resting on something high which is out of short. She is wearing a blue denim jacket and black leggings. She looks nervous and is biting her thumbnail. The background shows the underside of a higher tier of stadium seating, and a blurred section of crowd.
