Feast your eyes on our stunning new show by artist

Linda's project Women in Flowers is a series of digital, portrait-like flower illustrations. The work is dedicated to her grandmother and honours the women who have shaped her life and creative journey. Each flower represents and celebrates someone who has had somewhat of an effect on her, from lifelong friends and family to mothers and mentors.

This project has been a meaningful part of Linda’s creative journey over the past year, highlighting the women who have supported, inspired, and impacted her in ways big and small.

Introducing Laura ...Our current 'Artist in Residence' at the gallery and creator of 'The Octopus’s Garden'. Feast your eyes on the beautiful, colourful and fantastical sculpture created for the space...

Laura is a neurodiverse artist based in Brighton whose practice is deeply rooted in personal experience, resilience, and self-expression. In 2012, Laura’s life changed dramatically when she was diagnosed with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis. Laura underwent brain surgery, and was later diagnosed with epilepsy and the rare Gerstmann syndrome. These life-altering challenges meant she had to relearn how to read, write, speak, and find new ways to express herself-an ongoing journey that continues to shape both her life and her art.

A little bit about the show...
'The Octopus’s Garden' is inspired by the octopus’s extraordinary nervous system and its ability to rewire, adapt, and camouflage. Laura uses the octopus as a symbol of the hidden strength within people living with invisible disabilities. Just as the octopus thrives through its unique sensory intelligence, individuals with conditions such as MS, epilepsy, and brain injury navigate unseen challenges with remarkable resilience and flexibility.

This is the last week to see the show, viewers are invited write their 'SUPERPOWER' on the little tags provided and post them in a box 💌

One of the smallest pieces in our exhibition. Mural artist has created a matchbox which looks like one of her stunning abstract murals in miniature.

KARC earned her Master's degree in sculpture from Gdansk's Academy of Fine Arts in May 2019. After graduation, she relocated to Alaska and later to New York, experiencing life in both a remote village near glaciers with real threats of bears and lynxes, and the vibrant urban jungle of New York City. In December 2019, she volunteered in Eastern Ukraine, helping people living in the Ukrainian-Russian conflict zone. Amidst the pandemic, she moved to London and began decorating the city with abstract graffiti compositions. Since then painted over 100 walls ,ranging from massive 6 stories high walls to small local walls. Her main focus in painting is abstraction, heavily influenced by her background in Sculpture, which leads her to perceive compositions as multidimensional and almost tangible. When painting, she creates her own rules and games, deriving pleasure from breaking them. One of these self imposed rules is the "Imperfect Mirror" principle, where she crafts various shapes and patterns, reflecting them at skewed and irregular angles, acknowledging the absence of perfect symmetry in nature.”

We did a little Q&A with ...

👉🏼If you could mastermind a heist on any gallery, at any time, where would it be, what would you pinch and why?

Moma -Collective Su***de, 1936 David Alfaro Siqueiros. This painting made an incredible impression on my life.

👉🏼If the world's greatest artists were on tinder, who would you match with and why?

Enrique Iglesias - I had a crush since childhood

👉🏼You've been nominated for the Turner Prize, it's the night before submission, you have absolutely nothing - who do you collaborate with (can be anyone!) and why?

I would ask on matchbox chat who has a free evening and want to help paint.

Introducing another amazing artist who's part of our current group exhibition at the gallery. Meet ,an illustrator and mural painter based in Bristol. He loves creating artwork that brings joy and surprise. He's designed and hand painted two incredible matchboxes for the show and we absolutely love his play on words 😉 Dave's generously pledged to donate 50% of sales to Teenage Cancer Trust (you can pick up the pair for £90).

We caught up with Dave for a little Q&A...

👉🏼If you could mastermind a heist on any gallery, at any time, where would it be, what would you pinch and why?

Rather than pinching, I'd quite like to (temporarily) alter a famous portrait by, say, having the eyes look a different way. Sometimes a subtle change like that can make a huge difference to how an image feels.

👉🏼If the world's greatest artists were on tinder, who would you match with and why?

I'd love a drink and a painting session with Jean-Michel Basquiat. It'd be silly but a lot of fun.

👉🏼You've been nominated for the Turner Prize, it's the night before submission, you have absolutely nothing - who do you collaborate with (can be anyone!) and why?

Ha! Doubtful, but if that did happen I'd speed dial the masterful Grayson Perry, who strikes me as being open minded enough to collaborate. I love his approach to research and use of different materials.

Thanks 🙏🏼

Our new exhibition’Take a Dip’ has been created by Bristol based multidisciplinary artist

“This installation was inspired by a gorgeous sunny dip into the River Frome, just outside of Bristol. As a lover of our waterways, wildlife and cold water swimming, Zoë's artwork inspires us to take ownership of our waters, to engage with and to celebrate them”
