Spring is on its way! I can feel it in my bones and I welcome the warmth of the sun on my cheeks.

I wrote this poem in 2025 to remind myself of the opportunities that spring renewal brings.

Spring forward

As the clocks change
I do not mourn the loss of that hour it brings
I do not cling on to the loss of sleep
I will not dwell on the return of darkness at the tone of my morning alarm
I do not worry about the changes happening all around me

For this is my soul’s kickstart
The timely shock to my ruminating system
The shedding of my winter cocoon
The chance to renew myself and grow in new directions
I embrace this transition and the chance to spring forward with abundance

Yesterday on I got to pitch my new collection of poems at the Isle of Wight Literary Festival. This is the second year that they have hosted ‘Write on Wight’ to help promote local authors. Thanks to from the for hosting the session and Lottie Begg from Lemon Jelly Press for capturing the video for me

Well done to all the other local authors who took part who were amazing.

Am halfway through a two week staycation exploring West Wight and camping in our

It’s been a challenging year so far and it has been lovely to get away with my wife and the Norse gods.

Our days have been filled with dog walking, reading, painting and writing. Today was all about the beach as we took advantage of the low evening tide and watched the sunset.

Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, I hope that you are able to stop and just be for a while.

It’s been a wonderful weekend walking 14 miles on Saturday and my first swim of the summer today at our favourite beach. Whereever you are and whatever is going on in your world, make sure you take time out to to just be and enjoy what you have around you.
