This has been a crappy week with multiple visits to hospital to get support for treatment reactions, side effects plus scan appointments. Despite this, I’m reminded how far I have come with only one more cycle of treatment left and how lucky I have been to not have any treatment delayed so far🤞🏻.

None of this has been easy but creating either through my poetry or visual mediums has helped me. Along with the support of my amazing wife, family and dearest friends.

I still have a long way to go but today has given me a little boost which will make a massive difference.

I may treat myself to a little nap now 😎

2026 has been life changing for the worst reason. In March I was diagnosed with after finding a lump. It’s been weeks of waiting for test and scan results in between hospital appointments. I am now halfway through chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatment but I still have a long way to go in my treatment plan. Cancer has taken over everything in my life and so in true Lisa fashion, I have reclaimed myself through my poetry and being creative as part of my journey. The working title for this collection is ‘My Sh*t Right T*t’.

To mark the halfway point in my chemotherapy I wanted to share ‘See Me’ a reflection of how cancer has taken over and ‘Laughter Invoked’ which highlights that you can always find a reason to smile or laugh even in your darkest moments.

I am also sharing some photos of me from the past 12 weeks of treatment to show that I keep finding a reason to smile.

Spring is on its way! I can feel it in my bones and I welcome the warmth of the sun on my cheeks.

I wrote this poem in 2025 to remind myself of the opportunities that spring renewal brings.

Spring forward

As the clocks change
I do not mourn the loss of that hour it brings
I do not cling on to the loss of sleep
I will not dwell on the return of darkness at the tone of my morning alarm
I do not worry about the changes happening all around me

For this is my soul’s kickstart
The timely shock to my ruminating system
The shedding of my winter cocoon
The chance to renew myself and grow in new directions
I embrace this transition and the chance to spring forward with abundance
