The Flying Monkeys

The Flying Monkeys Storytellers, yarn-spinners, verbal acrobats... we tell tales for love, for money and for the sheer hell of it.

The Flying Monkeys are a story club based in Bridport, Dorset. The attributes of Monkey are many; immortal, shape-shifter, disease healer, demon slayer, innovative and irrepressible - we claim them all. Once a month in normal times we take over The Woodman on South St and regale our listeners with short stories, tall tales, songs and music. We tell fairy tales, folk tales, traditional tales, creat

ion myths, tales of heroes, tales of fools, tales to make your heart ache or your head spin - all in the traditional way; around the pub fire with a pint in hand.

As the darkness reaches it peak and the winter solstice dawns, a reminder that light will return. The mischievous Crow brings the light from the South to illuminate and warm the dark, icy North.

Crow Brings the Light - a good tale for this time of year when it can feel like it'll be dark forever, especially with the Whole Pandemic Situation. I'm fed ...

The Krampus Came And Left With Zero Naughty Children In His Sack! (because everyone was good, so very very good!)

Thank you to all the marvellous storytellers, musicians, songsters, poets and festive fools that contributed and mostly to the audience and patrons of The Woodman who made us so welcome and joined in superbly!

Krampus or Christmas, be good and see you again soon!

So the year turns once more to Krampusnacht,
And something’s festering in the festive sack,
It sounds quite scary and smells right funky,
That’s right! It’s the winter return of the Flying Monkeys!

Come all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant!
And all ye untrustworthy miserable losers, too!

Flying Monkeys, featuring a set of alternative Christmas poems from Dylan, return for a Winter bout of tales, poems, songs and fables of traditional mid-winter, pagan celebration, alternate yule, x-***ed Xmas and chilling Chanukah!
