Great to welcome back British Scurry and Trials Driving to Bridgend Country Show 2026 🐴

Thank you to the organisers and competitors for coming down to support the show this year! You were amazing 🌟

🏁 That’s a wrap on Bridgend Country Show 2026… and what a weekend! 🐴

It was fantastic to be back at a show we haven’t attended for over 10 years, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. It was a real pleasure to be involved once again!

Firstly, a huge thank you to all 13 combinations who came forward over the course of the weekend in Wales. The sportsmanship, driving and support were brilliant throughout, and it really proved once again that this sport is going from strength to strength. πŸ‘

A massive thank you must also go to everyone who works tirelessly behind the scenes to make these events happen. Our arena crew, led by Wendy Scott, were absolutely brilliant all weekend! πŸ’ͺ

The course was once again built by father-and-son duo Ivor and Jack Williams, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The smaller arena made for a much tighter and more technical course, which caught a few combinations out but gave others the perfect opportunity to shine. It made for some brilliant competition! πŸ”₯

πŸ† Saturday

Saturday got the weekend off to a flying start with Phil Trantham laying down a dominant 51.00 round. Philippa Scott, driving Herbie, was second in the morning heat with a fantastic 52.00 drive, while novice driver Danny Marshall and Miss Sassy Pop rounded off the top three.

They were followed by Chloe Williams, Liz Seabourne and Sally Newell in 4th, 5th and 6th respectively.

The afternoon session saw Phil once again take pole position with Squeaky Girls PT1, winning the Very Small Pony class. Even more impressively, he drove the Clydesdale Blossom into a fantastic 4th place overall from a field of 13 combinations, as well as taking victory in the Single Pony class! Another superb session of competition.

After a fantastic opening day, several of our competitors headed down to the Welsh beach before everyone gathered around the TV later that evening, and into the early hours of the morning, to cheer on the England boys as they booked their place in the FIFA World Cup semi-finals! βš½πŸŒŠπŸ˜„

πŸ† Sunday

Sunday morning, and it was that man again… Phil Trantham! He took the early lead with a time of 52.69, closely followed by Philippa Scott, driving Herbie, on 53.87.

The top six remained incredibly close, but Rhi Murray, driving Squeaky Girls Team, put in a brilliant round to finish a very respectable 4th, while Emily Curnock and Poundy Sovereign claimed 6th.

It was also fantastic to welcome the Curnock family back once again β€” they couldn’t miss a Welsh show for the world! ❀️

A special mention must go to veteran pony Sovereign, who officially retired after many fantastic years with Emily and the family. He received a wonderful send-off in the arena on Sunday, and we wish him a very happy retirement. πŸ΄πŸ’š

πŸ† Championship

By Sunday afternoon, the atmosphere around Bridgend was fantastic, with the pressure building and a brilliant crowd really getting behind the competition.

Jack Williams was joined on the microphone by Luke Rees, giving us a commentary duo throughout the championship, and it was great from start to finish. πŸŽ™οΈ

Phil Trantham, driving Squeaky Girls PT1, produced the fastest time of the entire weekend with an incredible 49.16. Unfortunately, one ball down added five seconds, giving him a final time of 54.16. It was cruel luck after an outstanding drive, but it capped another superb weekend for Phil and both of his turnouts.

Taking the Bridgend Country Show Championship was Philippa Scott, driving Herbie, delivering a brilliant 50.47 round when it mattered most. Mrs Consistent delivered once again! πŸ†

Second place went to Phil Trantham, while Sally Newell claimed 3rd with Mild and Bitter. It was brilliant to have Sally back in the world of Scurry and Trials Driving.

Completing the top six were:

4️⃣ Chloe Williams
5️⃣ Liz Seabourne
6️⃣ Rhi Murray

A huge well done also to our novice drivers Danny Marshall and Sue Holliday, who continue to gain confidence and experience every time they step into the arena. πŸ‘

Another fantastic weekend of competition and another brilliant show added to the history books. Thank you to everyone who competed, helped, supported and came to watch β€” you all helped make Bridgend such a success! ❀️
