The Biggest Little Festival Is Back In Romford This May! 🍿

This weeks sunny 🌞 show was filled by Romford Festival Director Spencer Hawken and Writer, Producer and Actress Louise Ann Munro.

Discussing all things festival which starts on 24th May, we listened to over 30 film vox pops from filmmakers. While Spencer gave us the low- down RIFF and the ECG Eurasian film festival too which runs parallel.

We dug down into Louise’s ‘Funny Life’ career which has ironically led her to producing a hard hitting social drama Beholden, which plays on Tuesday 28th May.

Finally, Spencer chose a playlist of sunny songs chosen to compliment the day’s beautiful weather!

The Romford International Film Festival runs from Friday 24th to Tuesday 28th May. Book tickets from £3.99 per film on the Premiere Cinema website, or £15 for a day or £40 for everything at www.romfordfilmfestival.com !

Listen Again to yesterday's Arts Programme with Natalie & Claire

This week we had a studio full of talent! Our guests included Liz and Josh from the Bardswell Social Club to talk all things talent shows, and Beena from the Phoenix Arts Group to talk to us about social artists and her current art practise.

Natalie and Claire also had a chin wag about the past week, with some sad news filled with inspiring legacy and Natalie’s trip to the Louisiana museum just outside of Copenhagen.

The music this week was picked from a plethora of artists who started out in competitions, including of course Harry Styles and Girls Aloud. The infomous Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears. There were also some who you wouldnt immediately think of for their low ranking position on a televised show too like Becky Hill. Yep, you’ve guessed it. A very pop-worthy playlist.

This week we had a studio full of talent! Our guests included Liz and Josh from the Bardswell Social Club and Beena from Phoenix Arts.

If you missed it - yesterday we were joined in the studio by sustainable superstar Becky from Retro From Scratch . We spoke about important things such as the ‘heirarchy of sustainability’; and also less important things like Gregg Wallace’s daily routines.

Becky told us all about how she got into bookbinding as a business, only to find out years later that the trade is in her blood. She also spoke about giving books a new lease of life and a story of tradition and nostalgia.

We also spoke about some national news and some Essex events. Including one of Becky’s coming up at Merrymeade Tearooms surrounding quilling.

There was also a book themed playlist stretching from the Mary Shelley inspired ‘China In My Hand’ to the Ramones ‘Pet Sematary’. As usual, Charlotte also chose a thematic musical number for us too – this week’s was from the Musical named and about the Mount of Monte Christo.
