Our senior park rangers attended this hedgehog safety presentation - a big thank you to Lynda and Jana! 🦔
Recently, Lynda and Jana met with representatives from West Suffolk Council, including the Landscape Team, Park Rangers and other council staff, to talk about one of the biggest dangers facing hedgehogs in public spaces: strimming.
Lynda delivered a detailed hedgehog safety presentation, which was recorded so Green Space and Heritage council staff across the district can all benefit from the training.
The Council had also been kindly provided with yellow hedgehog warning stickers by the British Hedgehog Preservation Society (BHPS), which are now being added to strimmers and other grounds maintenance equipment. It's a simple but important reminder to check areas carefully before cutting, and a positive step towards West Suffolk Council’s goal of joining the BHPS Hedgehog Heroes Roll of Honour.
This presentation, and the drive to improve strimming awareness across West Suffolk, came about thanks to Jana's determination to make Moreton Hall the safest place for hedgehogs in Bury St Edmunds.
A few of Lynda's books were also sold on the day, and a thank-you donation was kindly made to Suffolk Hedgehog Hospital.
