Walk around Ashburton this weekend and walked past the Old Exeter Inn, one of the oldest in the country. This inn has an interesting story in that one 17th century New World explorers from Devon namely Sir Walter Raleigh was arrested here in 1603 for treason and taken to the Tower of London. The blue plaque describes his fate. Love a good bit of history ...
