The End of an Era 🦙
After a lot of thought, I've made the difficult decision to bring Laughing Llama Comedy Club to an end.
Unfortunately, this means that the show planned for Saturday 5th September will be cancelled, along with all future Laughing Llama shows.
Laughing Llama started back in 2019. I originally started the club because I wanted to give newer comedians the opportunity to get longer spots on stage and have the chance to properly develop their material in front of a live audience.
What started as a small idea grew into something much bigger than I ever expected. The club continued through Covid, and as it grew we were lucky enough to start welcoming professional comedians onto the line-ups alongside some fantastic up-and-coming acts.
Over the years we've put on more than 25 shows and had a huge number of brilliant comedians take to the Laughing Llama stage. Looking back at all the posters from those nights, it's amazing to see just how much the club grew and how many people have been part of it.
I've been running these nights for a long time, and Laughing Llama has given me some incredible memories. From the comedians I've had the pleasure of working with, to the audiences who have turned up month after month, there have been some genuinely brilliant nights.
I've met some fantastic people along the way, discovered some amazingly talented comedians and, most importantly, had the privilege of making people laugh.
I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported the club over the years. Every ticket bought, every friend brought along, every share, every laugh and every bit of support has meant a lot.
A huge thank you also goes to Idle and Thackley Theatre Group ITTG for giving Laughing Llama a home and supporting the club. I'm really proud of what we've been able to create there and of the part Laughing Llama has played in bringing people through the theatre doors.
Sometimes you reach a point where you know it's time for a chapter to come to an end, and I feel that time has come for Laughing Llama.
I'm sad to see it go, but I'm also incredibly proud of what it became.
So, one last time...
