We are kicking off Monday, and the beginning of Learning Disability week to tell you about Art Club at Mind The Gap and their recent trip to the exhibition Together Intentionally 2026 by Arts Work in Sheffield.

Over the course of the last few months, Art club have been developing their own creative practice and working to expand their own knowledge and understanding of the artists they are becoming and the work they are creating.

Last month they collectively traveled over to Sheffield to view Together Intentionally 2026, which is an exhibition developed by 23 different learning disabled and neurodivergent artists around the world.

Access to representation and community creates meaningful experiences that inform and enrich peoples creative work.

Our favourite quote of the day

‘Im so glad ive come today, i can’t believe that this amazing work that ive seen around on the walls is by people with learning disables just like me’ - Art club participant

Outside In🌳🌿🌱

What is it?
Our sessions use art and nature activities to help young people have fun, grow skills and improve their wellbeing. Some of our sessions will be indoors and some outside. There's also a chance for them to gain a Discover Arts Award! You can choose to drop off your child or stay and join in. Each group will be small and well-staffed.

Who's it for?
We welcome children and young people with additional needs and/or who are neurodivergent and may benefit from a smaller, more inclusive environment. These sessions are particularly for families who arent currently receiving formal support services or who have struggled to find activities that feel like the right fit for their child. No formal diagnosis is needed to take part.

The details:
* 8-12 year olds: Monday 27" July - Thursday 30*. July, 12-3pm.
* 13-18 year olds: 12th-13th August and 19th-20th August, 12-3pm

Bradford New Church, Ashfield Avenue, BD18 3AL will be our base but we will be walking to local green spaces. The sessions are free but please bring your own packed lunch and water bottle. Siblings may be able to attend if parent/carers are present, depending on space and the needs of the group

Get in touch with Rachel to book your place and about your access needs

These sessions are run by The Wild Remains in partnership with Mind The Gap and funded by Bradford Council.

Last week was our final workshop with the brilliant group of people from Wilf Ward Trust in York. Over the last few months, facilitators Bee and Theo have been working with the group to creatively explore the idea of Everyday Citizenship.

We spent time getting to know each other, described dream homes, thought about the communities we are part of, explored what ‘good’ help looks like, talked about things we’d like the freedom to do, explained how we access money and what it allows us to do, reminded us what we love about ourselves and identified meaningful experiences we’ve had and would like to have.

We’ve absolutely loved this project, thanks so much to for inviting us to work with you! We’re making a short film together to share some of the conversations we’ve been having, so watch this space…
