This autumn, Goldfrapp co-founder Will Gregory is curating a series of events for Wiltshire Music Centre exploring the saxophone 🎷
He kicks things off on 25 September with a night celebrating Moondog – the blind, avant-garde musician who performed on a Manhattan street corner through the 1950s and 1960s, dressed in Viking garb.
“Before Steve Reich, Philip Glass and Terry Riley, there was Moondog,” Gregory says of the Viking of Sixth Avenue, whose experimental sounds were informed by Native American culture, Dixieland, big band swing, street sounds and minimalist composition.
London Saxophonic with Will Gregory: Moondog’s Sax Pax for a Sax will feature a 13-piece ensemble with nine saxophones. For details of the rest of Will Gregory’s sax series, visit
