🎼Not long now until our first rehearsals start for The Fairy Queen: Three Wishes - our big commuity opera taking place on Tue 30 June - and we still have room for more sopranos and basses.

🎼Are you a SATB singer? Do you want to sing with over 100 performers including professional musicians and singers from the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (OAE) and primary and secondary school children? Plus learn from professionals (Mike Daniels and OAE musicians)?

🎼We are very excited to be partnering in June 2026 with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment for a performance of their community opera, The Fairy Queen: Three Wishes, and we're looking for SATB singers to be part of the on-stage choir!

🎼There are lots of reasons to take part - here are just a few...

🌟Be part of a magical new opera for all the family. Composer James Redwood and writer Hazel Gould have reimagined Henry Purcell's 1692 work to tell the story about wishes that come true, and what happens when they do, as we learn about friendship, love and telling the truth...
🌟Exciting opportunity to be part of a fantastic and uplifting community production, led by outstanding OAE professionals and performed on stage in our world-class auditorium.
🌟Sing with over 100 performers including OAE musicians and opera singers, a community choir, a primary school choir and a secondary school band.
🌟Learn from professionals. As part of the community choir, you will participate in advance rehearsals led by WMC Chorus director Mike Daniels as well as a rehearsal the day before the performance led by OAE artists.

💦As a Mercury Prize-nominated singer, folksong interpreter, song collector and conservationist, Sam Lee is the ideal addition to the popular Wild Waters climate change festival: a now annual event highlighting the ecological threat faced by our rivers.

💦Reimagining trad folk songs into contemporary soundscapes, Sam’s music will fill the auditorium next Friday 5 June with haunting sounds of nature, the land and traditions. Here's a clip of him recording Lay This Body Down produced by Bernard Butler (who's also in the video)
