✨ Our Tuesday Preschool Dance classes start today! ✨

Dance classes are based on popular stories and our new theme is the enchanting tale of 'Cinderella'! We use colourful props such as wands, ribbons and scarves to tell the story through movement and children get to keep their props so they can keep on dancing at home.

If your child would like to come along, trial sessions are available and no uniform is required. Parents/Care Givers stay in the space with their children and Infant siblings are welcome to watch and there is free parking too. Introducing the musician behind our 'Goodbye' song! I have known Zoe for over 15 years since we met in the cast of Beauty and the Beast. We were both dancing 'napkins' wearing cutlery crowns for one of the songs and famously got stuck together while we waited in the wings to can-can onto the stage... Fast forward and Zoe has written beautiful songs for me and accompanied them with her gorgeous voice; thank you Zoe Manifold!

The Goodbye Song is used in the Toddlers and Preschool Class to structure the session with a familiar song at the end every time and we practise a basic 'Reverance' eg Bow or Curtsey. Initially criss crossing the legs is very tricky, but with regular repetition with the Goodbye Song, we are ready to meet the Royal Family any time! 💜

🦢⚓ AUTUMN TERM — Ballet and Tap for Adults! ⚓🦢

Come along to develop technique in our Warm Up Dances, learn new choreography and always, have a good giggle while we're doing it! Places are open for the Autumn Term and our new 12-week term starts the week of Monday 7th September. This term we're dancing our way through two fabulous themes:

🦢 BALLET — Swan Lake
We’ll be dancing to our own version of the Waltz from Swan Lake with graceful choreography and options to suit beginners through to more experienced dancers.

⚓ TAP — Anything Goes
All aboard! We’ll be getting ship shape and making (noisy!) waves with choreography inspired by the nautical tap spectacular Anything Goes.

Hello! I often have great questions about how ballet shoes work. Here is a quick video with FAQs!

✨For recreational Ballet, a leather or canvas soft shoe is perfect. Whether you find them on Vinted, online or from a dance shop, so long as they fit comfortably, that's the most important thing!

✨ If you are buying Ballet shoes from a Dance brand such as Bloch or Capezio, the shoes can come up small so trying a size bigger than you would normally wear in outdoor shoes might be more comfortable for you

✨ Ballet shoes have one elastic going across the foot OR two elastics crossing over like in the video, otherwise they will just fall off. If you are buying a new pair of shoes and they have only half an elastic sewn on, please sew the other half on to make sure your shoe is secure.

✨ There is no left or right shoe, you can wear soft shoes on either foot! Some people prefer to be consistent and mark the soles 'L' and 'R', particularly if you are wearing a leather shoe, but whatever works best, go with that!

✨We have a Preloved Ballet Shoe collection for dancers to access. If you would like to try a pair, please let me know the size so I can check if I have them and if you have an old pair you'd like to donate, I will pass them on to to a grateful new home! 💜

Thank you to all the fabulous Pop Queen Dancers for being brilliant at our dance party this morning! We made friendship bracelets, played lots of games (the inflatable guitars were a favourite!) and learnt dance routines which we performed to families. Super job kids! 💜

Picture the scene… Creative People putting together choreography. They get to the end of the dance and start debating . How shall we end the dance? Shall we do, ‘Jazz Hands’?!! 😱😱😱

In short, Jazz Hands are AWFUL. They are a terrible cliché and the movement equivalent of ‘And then they all woke up’ at the end of a gripping story. All the students I teach are well aware of my loathing of Jazz Hands and derail me on a regular basis by providing me with drawings, paintings and ambush me with surprise Jazz Hands in the lesson 🤦‍♀️ I’ll take jazz elbows, jazz knees, jazz nostrils… literally aaaaaaanything but Jazz Hands!

We have lots of exciting classes for children at every stage of their dance journey, with magical themes and adventures to inspire our dancers throughout the Autumn Term. 🏰 TODDLERS • PRESCHOOL • FOUNDATION 🏰

We’ll be stepping into the magical world of Cinderella! We’ll be telling this classic fairytale with ballet dances using giant pumpkins, magic wands, fairy wings, sparkly costumes, to name a few! Then, as we head towards Christmas, we’ll be flying off to Neverland with Tinkerbell & Peter Pan!

🪄 KEY STAGE 1 • KEY STAGE 2 🪄

Get your wands at the ready because our older dancers are heading to Magic School! Inspired by the magical worlds of The Worst Witch and Harry Potter, this term we will be building our lyrical dance skills and the children get to create their own dances inspired by the broomsticks, potions and magic spells too! After the October Half Term, we’ll be climbing aboard The Polar Express! We’ll be learning jazz-inspired dances for a magical Christmas adventure which we’ll be performing at our own Christmas Show at a community performance in December!

👑 TODDLERS: AGE 2+
For our youngest dancers, aged 2 and over, our Toddler classes are a wonderful introduction to the world of dance. Little ones dance, travel and explore alongside the support of their grown up.

🌸 PRESCHOOL: AGE 3+
For children aged 3 and over, our fabulous Preschool classes give children the opportunity to dance independently, while their grown-ups cheer them on from the sidelines.

🧚 FOUNDATION: RECEPTION YEAR
Our Foundation classes are for children in their Reception year at school. These classes build confidence, creativity and independence while we explore ballet dance technique in a relaxed environment.

🪄 KEY STAGE 1: YEARS 1–2
Our Key Stage 1 classes are perfect for children in Years 1 and 2, continuing to develop their technique, musicality and confidence through fun and imaginative themes.

✨ KEY STAGE 2: YEARS 3–6
For children in Years 3–6, our Key Stage 2 classes offer exciting choreography, challenges and opportunities to develop their dance skills even further with barre work.

Get ready for an Autumn Term filled with fairy tales, fun, friendship and LOTS of dancing!
