There’s nothing like real musicians, real songs, and a real community coming together — and that’s exactly what’s happening on Saturday 📆 29 November 2025 at
Schtumm… Presents Blake and Thieves — two outstanding acts keeping grassroots music alive with heartfelt songwriting, acoustic craft, and harmonies that warm the soul.

💛 Why it matters:
When you show up to nights like this, every ticket and every clap goes straight to the artists who keep local music thriving. No industry filter, no algorithms — just honest music made by real people, shared in an intimate local pub.
📍 The Queen’s Head, Box
🕖 19:00 – 22:00
🎟 £10 cash on the door (directly supporting the musicians)
🔒 Seats can be reserved in advance.
Expect great tunes, close-up performances, and the kind of atmosphere you can only get when a community shows up for its artists.
If you love supporting independent, grassroots music, this is your night. Bring your friends, grab a drink, settle in, and help keep live music alive where it starts — right here at home.

😍🔥😍

This evening I had the absolute pleasure of being a guest of N’Faly Kouyaté and his band. They did not disappoint. Playing in an intimate venue to a small audience of 40 (the room was packed), he was at his very best, playing songs from his new album "Finishing".

The venue was The Queens Head in Box, just around the corner from Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios. It's run by a gentleman called Dean, who is passionate about live music, and it shows with the effort he has made in turning his back room into a rather brilliant small music venue.

Over the next week or so they are all over the place, with Port Issac later this evening, before moving onto Porthotowan, Stroud, Exeter, Portsmouth, Leicester, Rainham, Shoreham, ending in London on the 23rd. All being well I will be catching up with them next week in Portsmouth. Perhaps I'll see you there?

Oh, about the photo, it is not often you can fill the frame with the main performer when using a wide 8mm (12mm full frame) lens, but this evening was quite special, and with N'Faly knowing me, he was happy to play up to my camera, just a bit.
