All Saints' Dramatic Society

All Saints' Dramatic Society Welcome to All Saints' Dramatic Society, Bournemouth's No.1 amateur theatre company. No really! Why not? Can you act, or do you think you can act? Great! Fantastic!

We are a friendly local theatre company that prides itself in achieving professional standards in our productions. With over 65 years’ experience of producing a wide range of genres, including our famous annual panto or musical, gripping thrillers, comedy and farce, we always strive to make our shows the best we possibly can. The joy and satisfaction of a show well-made and well-received is someth

ing we would like to share with you. Not only do we want you to come and experience the thrill of local theatre from the perspective of a seat in the audience, but we would love you to come and get involved as a member, working in a team producing our excellent shows. Why not join us and audition? It doesn’t matter how confident you feel; there are always parts to suit people at all stages on their acting journey. Can you sing? We need singers in some of our shows, where you can rattle your tonsils to a joyful tune! OK, so you may not think you can get on the stage and perform, but there is so much more that you can get involved in. Are you handy with a screwdriver and a saw? We always need stage builders. Do you think you could help with lighting and sound? We can train you. Do you have a creative/artistic streak in you? We always need people like you to create the best possible stage sets we can. Are you resourceful – someone who can get hold of all sorts of weird and wonderful items? We need such people in our props teams. ASDS is a great theatre company to be a part of. Producing good theatre is hugely rewarding and is made all the more satisfying doing it with a group of friends who are there to help and support you. Not only do we present the opportunity for you to exercise whatever gift you may have (or even abilities you don’t realise you have yet!), but it is a great place to meet people and make new friends, particularly through our amazing social programme that includes activities such as golf, going to the theatre (other than our own of course), charity fundraisers and, not forgetting, partying and socialising down the pub! So, have we convinced you to be part of this amazing team yet? Give us a go; get in touch with us via this page and we will get straight back to you.

Meet the Cast of TWO!!!

We welcome you to 'Ye Olde Hag and Swindler' for our next production -"Two".

A bickering landlord and his wife, welcome the dozen regulars who pass through their pub in an evening. Each vignette skillfully combines pathos and humor. When a little boy is left behind by his father, a fragile reconciliation occurs as their own dark tragedy is revealed.

In line with the 80s pub scene, we asked our cast to tell us a bit about themselves... Just for fun!!!

Mary says "Although I'm playing the part of the Landlady in ‘Two” I have never been much of a drinker, although I did get a bit tipsy at the age of 12 drinking cider thinking it was a soft fizzy drink.

My favourite drink is a still cider, especially a nice Dorset Scrumpy.

The landlady has many great lines in the play, but my favourites are “Love the trousers, who’d have thought they would come back in. Only joking love, very natty them.”

If I could take anyone to the pub it would be Chris Hemsworth, especially in his Thor outfit, gorgeous!

As I have a sweet tooth if I designed a cocktail, it would be called “Sweet Treats” and include lemon, orange, sherbet, vodka and popping candy " 🍭

Dave Higgins, who plays our Landlord says-

"My current favourite tipple is a cool pint of Guinness which always goes down a treat.

I’ll never forget the first time I got drunk, I was just 18 and it was so unpleasant that I’ve never got that drunk again. I was at a works skittle do and had only recently started to have alcoholic drinks and my experiment with cider was probably a big mistake.

My favourite lines in the play are between Fred & Alice when they are discussing the Palomino horse which starred in Western shown on the tv, you'll have to come and watch to see what they are!

I’d love to take Gary Lineker to the pub as I admire him not only for his footballing skills but also his willingness to stand up for what he believes in.

I haven’t drunk many cocktails but due to AFC Bournemouth possibly qualifying for European Football next year I’d combine some cherry, brandy and citrus and call it a ‘Cherry Continental' "

Our next show will be Two by Jim Cartwright.

A bickering husband and wife and the dozen regulars who pass through their pub in an evening. Each vignette skillfully combines pathos and humor. When a little boy is left behind by his father, a fragile reconciliation occurs as their own dark tragedy is revealed.

While the play is usually performed by two, many productions, such as ours, will feature a variety of talented members bringing the pub to life.
