🍂 Our Autumn Term has officially begun!
After a restful summer break, it feels like it’s been ages, but it is so good to be back in the class. It’s been an absolute joy catching up with familiar faces and welcoming our lovely new joiners. Autumn is always such an inspiring season for making art—the golden light is gorgeous, and we have so many exciting projects lined up.

Improvers | Intricate Interiors
Inspired by the wonderfully quirky drawings of Saul Steinberg, our improvers dove into fine liner on cartridge paper. They’ve been building doll’s house-style cross-sections—peeking into little rooms full of character. This project is all about celebrating pure line work, focusing on balance, personality, and quiet charm rather than strict realism.
Beginners | Still-Life Studies
Our newest artists hit the ground running, exploring line, form, and tone through classic cup still-life studies. The confidence in these first marks is wonderful to see!

🍂 Our Autumn Term has officially begun!

After a restful summer break, it feels like it’s been ages, but it is so good to be back in the class. It’s been an absolute joy catching up with familiar faces and welcoming our lovely new joiners. Autumn is always such an inspiring season for making art—the golden light is gorgeous, and we have so many exciting projects lined up.

Inspired by Samira Addo’s bold style, our students pushed past their comfort zones. They experimented with fast, energetic acrylic painting, focusing on tonal blocking and placing dark values early to let the layered colors pop.

Week 10: Acrylics

🎨✨ "Every dog has its day... and every cat has its canvas!" ✨

Animals always find a way to bring the biggest smiles to our space, and this week’s class was absolute magic! We dove into the wonderful world of cats and dogs, capturing all that joyful, furry energy in paint.

Using the beautifully thick impasto technique, everyone brought their portraits to life with amazing textures, movement, and so much personality. Whether they painted from our provided references or brought in precious photos of their own four-legged family members, the results were just bursting with love and humor.

Our beginner students did an incredible job this week! We spent the sessions mastering the essentials of acrylic techniques, and everyone wrapped up the day by painting their very own stunning seascape.
