The team have been busy prepping for this upcoming heatwave ☀️

We have been making lots of different flavoured ice lollies for our animals, including egg, mealworm, and a very tasty looking apple, carrot, and mint ice block for our pigs!

If you are visiting us this week, please make sure to keep cool, stay hydrated, and wear your suncream! As animal welfare is our top priority, on the very hot days, please be aware we may cancel our meet and greet sessions in our petting barn.

As the last one was so successful, we will be hosting another British Wildlife Day on Saturday 4th July 2026 as part of Wales Nature Week

As part of the day, we are looking for nature-related community groups, charities, or individuals who work with nature, to have a stall at our event, or to give a talk about the group you represent, or the work you do.

If there are any artists out there who do nature-themed arts or crafts, we would also like to invite you to come to our event. Places for any stall holders are free. To get in contact regarding the day, please email our keeper Samantha at [email protected], or message the Animalarium page.

To our guests who may join us, please expect nature themed workshops, information on how to get involved with our Harvest Mouse surveying (with an opportunity to meet some!), and a wildlife raffle to help us fundraise for equipment for our birds of prey!

Pip and Eris the Ferrets getting up to a bit of chaos this morning!

Ferrets are known for their rough play, which often looks much more aggressive than it actually is! Ferrets will wrestle, nip, vocalise (a chuckling noise known as dooking), and drag each other around by the scruff of the neck.

We are excited to announce that we will be at Ceredigion Nature Festival on the 11th July, along with many other amazing nature and wildlife organisations, creative stalls, entertainment and more!

We will be focusing on our Harvest Mouse project and giving out information on how to get involved with our surveying efforts next season, should anyone wish to join us. Make sure you head on over to our stall and have a chat with our keepers!

It is another HOT one today ☀️ so if you are visiting us, be like Steve the Emu and drink plenty of water! And as we don’t have lots of feathers to protect us from the sun, don’t forget your sun cream too 🧴

Our Café is stocked with plenty of ice creams and cold drinks to keep you cool during this heatwave.

Please note - whilst the weather is this hot, we will not be doing our Animal Handling sessions in the petting barn.

Okay, so our last post may have been a bit misleading.

We’ve had a LOT of new animals join us this week. A new rabbit, new Guinea pigs, new mice, and the one you’ve been waiting for…..

There were some great guesses on that post, but unfortunately no, it wasn’t an elephant! We hope our guests enjoy meeting these lovely new additions to the Animalarium.
