Final day at Badminton Horse Trials.

Thank you to everyone who has visited the stand over the past few days — for the conversations, the stories and the shared appreciation of wildlife, horses and sculpture.
If you’ve been meaning to stop by, today is the day.
You’ll find me in the Heart of England Pavilion, Stand 101 — opposite the main arena — until close.
I’d love to see you.

Cross-country day at Badminton is all about energy — speed, instinct, athleticism and trust. Those same qualities sit at the heart of Jan Sweeney’s sculpture practice.

Each piece begins with observation: the split-second stretch of a hound in motion, the suspension of a hare mid-flight, the contained power of a horse before release.
Visit us today at the Heart of England Pavilion, Stand 101 — opposite the main arena.

It’s in the surface.
Every mark, ridge and patina is built by hand — layer by layer — until the bronze begins to hold light in its own way.
These sculptures are made to reward closeness. The more time you spend with them, the more detail emerges: movement in the texture, warmth in the finish, life in the form.
Bronze is never static. It changes with weather, light and perspective — much like the animals that inspire it.

Dressage is movement refined — power shaped into precision.
There’s a similar balance in sculpture: tension and stillness held together at exactly the right moment.
These bronze hares and equestrian studies are inspired by rhythm, poise and observation — forms shaped slowly by hand, then cast to last for generations.

Every sculpture begins the same way — with watching. The angle of a head. The weight shifting through a stride. The stillness that holds tension. Observation is where it all starts. Come and find me at Badminton Horse Trials in the Heart of England Pavilion.

From first form to final cast, each piece passes through a process that is as much art as it is craft. Bronze rewards patience — and reveals everything.

After months in the studio, it’s time to bring the work out into the world. I’m delighted to be exhibiting at Badminton Horse Trials this year — a collection of bronze sculptures inspired by movement, form and the quiet character of the countryside. Come and find us.
