We were delighted to have Members of Brass Tracks as our special guests at our recent Annual Concert.

We recently received this message:
Two of the group are involved in a concert on Saturday 6th June at Morningside United Church with our large brass ensemble, Castle Brass. Our programme is music from stage and screen. I would be most grateful if you could let people know about our concert, and if they've not yet had their filll of brass music, it would be lovely to see some familiar faces in the audience. Tickets are available on the door (cash only) £10 for adults, £5 for school aged children and under 5s are free. The concert is at 5pm and will last around 1 hour.

Sounds like an excellent concert!

Our Annual Concert last Saturday in Greyfriars Kirk went really well. We had a lovely, big audience who were most appreciative of our singing and also of the contribution to the evening by Members of Brass Tracks, our special guests. They were a delight once again and we were so pleased to have them as part of our evening.

Thank you to everyone who came along! We were worried that the road closures and bus route diversions for the Edinburgh marathon were going to sabotage your journey to Greyfriars, but you all got there!
We really appreciate all your support - it’s lovely to sing to a full house.

We’re having our summer break now, but will be back for our Tuesday evening practices at the end of August.
This coming year is our 60th Anniversary Year and we’re hoping to have some special events, but we will start with our Come and Sing evening in September, when potential singers are invited to come to choir practice and join with the choir in learning and singing a piece of music.
Date to be confirmed so keep a look out for future posts.

Photo below is of the enlarged copy of our concert flyer, displayed on the illuminated advertising display at Greyfriars.
The flyer was designed by Hannah McCooke bug
Didn’t she make a lovely job of it?

Please let us know what were your favourite parts of the concert. 😄

Our 59th Annual Concert is just two weeks away!
I wonder if anyone in the choir when it was formed, back in 1967, could have imagined that the ‘Kevock’ would still be performing 60 years later!
Well, we do have one choir member who joined when the choir was first set up - and we hope to share some memories from him during our anniversary year.
But first we must concentrate on our concert on 23rd May.

We are singing in Greyfriars Kirk for the first time! The choir are excited to be performing in such a historic venue. We’re looking forward to the wonderful acoustics in Greyfriars and we think the concert will be fantastic, especially the Phantom of the Opera choral suite!
It’s a big space to fill, though, so please come and join us on Saturday 23rd May at 7.30pm.
And please share this post with all of your friends!

Tickets £16/£14 can be purchased online from
www.kevockchoir.org.uk or from
[email protected]
Also from the Queen’s Hall box office and will also be available at the door before the concert.

The choir would like to thank Penicuik Trinity Community Church for organising the Christmas concert on Tuesday 16th December and the stalwart Penicuik citizens who came along on a cold, frosty evening to listen to us.
Entry was by donation and a total of £701 was collected, which has been given to Broomhill Day Centre - a very worthy cause.

If you enjoyed our concert and would like to hear more of the choir’s songs - or if you didn’t come and now feel that you missed out - why not come along to our next concert.
Sunday 25th January at 6pm in St Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh.
The concert is only an hour long, from 6 to 7pm, and is a retiring collection which means you donate whatever amount you wish as you leave.
25th January, as well as being Burns Night, has been designated as Homeless Sunday by St Giles Cathedral and all of the money donated will go to one of the Edinburgh homeless charities.
The music will be very different to our Christmas concert and we will even be singing a couple of Burns’ songs. St Giles is a beautiful place to sing, with wonderful acoustics. The choir always enjoys performing there.
Please come along, enjoy the singing and contribute to a much needed charity collection.
