Union of UK Malayalee Associations, acronymed as UUKMA, and its social and cultural interventions and contributions to the UK Malaya lees in particular and the Indian community in general. Established in the year 2009 as an umbrella organisation of the Malayalee Associations spread across the length and breadth of the UK , UUKMA has more than one hundred and Twenty member associations in its fold
, thereby representing about 100,000 Malayalees , in all the four countries of the UK , namely England , Wales , Scotland and Northern Ireland. It has a three tier operational structure with the Member Associations at the base level, nine Regional Committees as the second tier and the National Committee as the apex body. Proud to say, UUKMA is the only organisation of its nature and style in the whole of the UK, representing the aspirations of the UK Malayalee community, performing par excellence sans racial, religious or communal considerations. UUKMA caters to the Malayalee community in dignified and diverse streams of actions. With the primary objective of uniting all the Malayalees in the UK, UUKMA is in the forefront to safeguard and promote the cultural and traditional Indian identity, while trying to help the community to socially integrate with the adopted country in a constructive manner. These challenging , and sometimes conflicting, social, cultural and community based needs are achieved through concerted and focused course of actions. UUKMA is constructively interfering in the social and cultural lives of the UK Malayalees in ways more than one.
