യൂണിയന്‍ ഓഫ് യു.കെ. മലയാളി അസോസിയേഷന്‍സ്‌ Needless to say, UUKMA has become the recognised public face of the UK Malayalees.

Union of UK Malayalee Associations, acronymed as UUKMA, and its social and cultural interventions and contributions to the UK Malaya lees in particular and the Indian community in general. Established in the year 2009 as an umbrella organisation of the Malayalee Associations spread across the length and breadth of the UK , UUKMA has more than one hundred and Twenty member associations in its fold

, thereby representing about 100,000 Malayalees , in all the four countries of the UK , namely England , Wales , Scotland and Northern Ireland. It has a three tier operational structure with the Member Associations at the base level, nine Regional Committees as the second tier and the National Committee as the apex body. Proud to say, UUKMA is the only organisation of its nature and style in the whole of the UK, representing the aspirations of the UK Malayalee community, performing par excellence sans racial, religious or communal considerations. UUKMA caters to the Malayalee community in dignified and diverse streams of actions. With the primary objective of uniting all the Malayalees in the UK, UUKMA is in the forefront to safeguard and promote the cultural and traditional Indian identity, while trying to help the community to socially integrate with the adopted country in a constructive manner. These challenging , and sometimes conflicting, social, cultural and community based needs are achieved through concerted and focused course of actions. UUKMA is constructively interfering in the social and cultural lives of the UK Malayalees in ways more than one.

30 AUGUST – UUKMA VICTORY DAY 🇬🇧🇮🇳

Today, 30 August, we proudly commemorate UUKMA Victory Day; a significant milestone in the history of our organisation.

In 2019, UUKMA faced one of the most challenging periods in its journey, arising from legal proceedings connected with the National Elections. On 30 August 2019, following a hearing at the High Court in Leeds, the decision came in favour of the then serving committee.

Recognising the importance of this moment in UUKMA’s history, the National Executive decided to observe 30 August as UUKMA Victory Day, a decision subsequently approved by the National General Body.

Victory Day is not simply about remembering the outcome of a legal challenge. It represents something much greater, the strength of democratic institutions, organisational discipline, unity, and the determination to protect and strengthen UUKMA for future generations.

On this anniversary, we once again express our sincere gratitude to all UUKMA member associations, community leaders, volunteers, well wishers and members of the wider UK Malayalee community who placed their trust in us and stood with the organisation throughout that difficult period.

Your confidence and support gave us the strength to move forward, overcome challenges and work with even greater commitment towards building a stronger, more united and more vibrant UUKMA.

Seven years later, the greatest way to honour that victory is not simply to remember it, but to continue working together preserving our cultural heritage, strengthening our community and creating greater opportunities for the generations that follow.

Thank you once again to everyone who trusted us, supported us and walked with us throughout the journey.

Together we stood. Together we grew. Together we continue.

Happy UUKMA Victory Day – 30 August
