West Sussex Guitar Club The Club was formed in 1993. Since then it has pursued an active programme of club meetings interspe We are a very active club having over 150 members.

The WSGC is a charity which aims to promote the classical guitar to all ages. We have 6 or seven club meetings throughout the year, where everyone is encouraged to give solo performances or join in with our orchestra. We arrange several professional recitals from internationally renowned artists such as Fabio Zanon and Gary Ryan, both of whom are patrons of the club. We are delighted to host Ian Watt at our first concert of the season on Saturday 26th September 2026 at the Regis School of Music in Bognor Regis.

Ian has been described by Classical Guitar as ‘a guitarist of outstanding skill and originality’ and is highly regarded as a teacher; those present at the recent West Dean International Guitar Festival will bear testament to this.

The first half of his programme has a London theme, with all composers having lived there at some point whilst the Cantigas de Santiago by Stephen Goss provides a Spanish connection to the second half, which is dedicated to the generation that followed Tarrega.

From Agustin Barrios’s La Catedral to Peter Green’s Albatross this concert promises to inspire longtime guitar lovers and entice those who are new to the instrument into the wonderful world of the classical guitar. And all delivered with gentle but mischievous sense of humour.

What a fantastic way to end our eventful term. In true Sasha and club style our summer party included musical quizzes; good food (and punch); lots of live performances - all join in in; WSGO, Guitar Harmony; New Gala Quartet; other ensembles and solos. No fewer than 50 live performances of movie themes! Oh, and did I mention the outstanding effort on dressing up the Regis Recital Hall… and ourselves 😀
