Hello Bletchley

Hello Bletchley Hello Bletchley is a public artwork for Bletchley town centre, commissioned by MKCC.

Created by artist Nick Ryan, it will be an interactive and dynamic sculpture shaped by local unheard voices, real-time data and Alan Turing’s visionary thinking.

When we built A1, we didn’t know how people would respond. But what’s surprised us the most is the level of honesty people have shared with our machine.

Thanks to everyone who spoke to it! Your contributions and the emotions drawn from them are now being coded into a sculpture for Bletchley town centre.

It wasn’t until about 1974 that the incredible work done at became public knowledge.

This meant many pioneering workers at Bletchley Park, including Alan Turing himself, didn’t live long enough to see their impact celebrated.

And that’s why this project is so important to us at Hello Bletchley. We’re creating a space that will bring the personal histories of both past and present Bletchley residents into the open.

Watch as we explore the spots that started it all and follow along as we move towards building the final sculpture.

While Turing’s post-war life was cut tragically short, his foundational theories on computing still dictate much of our digital world today.

To honour this, the generative code shaping our public artwork references structural patterns inspired by his early computing concepts - more proof that his legacy isn’t just a footnote in history, but an active, evolving part of our daily lives.

Well never stops being inspiring!

This unassuming wooden building was the nerve center for cracking German naval coded messages.

By building ‘The Bombe’ to sift through to thousands of possibilities to decipher their meaning, Alan Turing and his team helped the allies safely evade deadly submarines in the Atlantic!

After his work there was done, he pioneered ‘morphogenesis’, decoding the mathematical rules that shape the natural world. Our public artwork uses these exact equations to form its structure.
