A local DIY Sos request for help.
Let's stop Blandford s current death on the high street!
We have been supporting this amazing community project, the Blandford Arts Hub .
It's currently undergoing renovations but it despately needs extra diy help so it will be ready to open in Spring 🌼 If it can't reach the deadline it may have to shut down, just like so many other groups in Blandford.
So please let's support our community

If you are either a competent and enthusiastic DIYer, maybe recently retired and want a project to get stuck into or a trades person, they want to hear from you....

🛠️🪚 If you are a business, as a thankyou they will advertise your company. You will also be listed on the thankyou board, which will be on permanent display to the public, in Nightingale Court Garden ( between M&S & East at).
What they need:-
🏚️🔨Roofers. The roof is on, metal insulated sheets, but needs finishing off and leak proofing around windows.
🪟📐Carpenters, window frames and making ready for insulation and plasterboard. It's all tricky angles and not square.
💪🚚🛻Removals & temporary storage. At the moment the work has to be done around the furniture, equipment & supplies. It would be so much easier if it was just an empty space.

The brilliant community project, Blandford Arts Hub, has just 3 days left on their fundraiser but they are only at 44% of their target. Please help, share and let's push it past the finish line.
£1 or £2 will do 🙏 or you can pledge a set amount in return for some art workshops, children and adult workshops available.
Thankyou again and help them make the art hub beautiful and suitable for community enjoyment.

BAHub update
Sorry I have been a bit quiet as I ended up having to have another battle, this time with building control . This involved lots of paper work, so I haven't even been on site. Sadly there were a couple, who were very proud of their actions I might add, who complained it was a dangerous structure. This propelled the project into uncertain territory and the potential of being demolished. Absolutely not accepting defeat and a structural engineer, hours of drawing plans and £850 later, I can happily say we are now back on track. It still comes with it's headaches though!
Unfortunately the £850 building control fees have left a rather large hole in the finances. So I am back cap in hand asking the community for help. Sorry I hate asking
It's probably the worst time ever. I know Christmas is a time of giving but it's also a time people give so much they haven't much left. But for example if everyone in the Blandford Arts Hub FB group gave just £1 or £1.50 we would reach our target. As always, no pressure, if you can Fabulous, if you can't don't worry. I am grateful for anything received, however small.
Practical help is also a way that could really help. Whether it's building work or paper work.

This year we are inviting everyone to bring a lantern to our community carol singing and Christmas Tree light switch on - 6pm outside the Parish Church.

Due to the restoration work happening in the Corn Exchange this has limited our space in the market place. So there won't be a lantern parade but we are encouraging schools and the local community to gather with their own homemade lanterns.

Please do not use candles - battery lights only

We're looking to support local talent! We'd like to purchase 150 A5 cards and envelopes from an artist, designer or creative based in Dorset. We would like the cards to have new years theme and ideally have space to add a short printed message inside.

These cards will accompany our 'Culture in Dorset 2024' report to partners, funders, and friends of Arts Development Company.
