Last Saturday we were thrilled to host our second Strictly workshop of the year, this time with Darren & Lilia- and it was a blast!

From rumba to cha cha to jive, the dance floor was full of energy, laughter, and some seriously impressive moves. Huge thanks to Darren & Lilia for bringing their Strictly sparkle and making it such a memorable afternoon.

LEARN TO DANCE BALLROOM AND LATIN AMERICAN

Do you enjoy watching Strictly Come Dancing. Have you ever wanted to learn to dance but felt like you have two left feet. Then this might be just what you've been waiting for. Wilson’s Dance has been teaching Adult Ballroom and Latin American dance classes in Bispham for over 12 years. We currently run six classes a week at Bispham Community Centre and specialise in teaching Ballroom and Latin American dance to total beginners.

We are excited to announce that our new Strictly Beginners Dance Course commences on Wednesday, 7th January 2026.

For the second consecutive year, Wilson’s Dance School has been selected and approved for the prestigious WCBRB Best Businesses Award. This recognition is a testament to our strong customer focus. Here are answers to some of the questions we frequently receive:

Q1. How long does it take to be able to dance ?
A1. By the end of the first 1 hour lesson most people will be able to dance a basic routine.

Q2. Your website says that you teach 7 dances in 14 weeks. Is this really achievable ?
A2. Yes, absolutely. Our teaching methods are highly successful and structured so that you learn routines you can dance, rather than just a few basic steps from various dances. After 14 weeks, most people can dance basic Rumba, Waltz, Cha Cha Cha, Social Foxtrot, Quickstep, and Social Jive. We have also introduced a basic Argentine Tango routine into this course.

Q3. My partner has two left feet; do you think they could learn ?
A3. Yes, indeed. We pride ourselves on our ability to get people dancing.

Q4. What do we have to wear ?
A4. We get asked this a lot. Simply wear whatever you feel comfortable in.

Q5. What age group do you teach ?
A5. We teach adults aged 18 to 80.

Q6. Do you teach sequence dancing ?
A6. No, we focus on Ballroom, Latin American, and Argentine Tango.

Wilson’s Dance has been teaching Adult Ballroom and Latin American dance classes in Bispham for over 12 years. We currently teach 6 classes a week at Bispham Community Centre and cater for all levels of ability.

Over the last few months we have seen an increase in the number of enquiries from older members of the community who are looking for somewhere to dance in the afternoon. Most dance sessions are in the evening and are for Sequence Dancing only. Also, as Winter approaches there are a lot of people who don’t like going out when it is cold and dark.

To meet this need Wilson’s Dance will be running a Tea Dance on a Wednesday afternoon starting on Wednesday 2nd October. This will cater for those people who want to dance more than just Sequence Dancing and, as it is a new idea, people will be able to have their input into the format of the Tea Dance by way of a questionnaire when they first attend. For example, we are happy to teach new dance steps once a month if this is what people want.
