At Decorum, we are really pleased with our current exhibition, 'Worn' at the Whitaker Museum and Art Gallery in Rawtenstall. These are just a selection of my pieces but the exhibition shows the work of 6 mixed media artists, working in different but complementary ways. There is still time to see it as it's open until April.

I was inspired by a local derelict building with its strange ghostly feel, giving glimpses of its past so used the images to develop work for my current exhibition. Sadly most of this building has now been demolished but memories still live in.

I wanted to share some details of my current work showing with Decorum Artists as part of our exhibition’Worn’ which relates to the Whitaker’s current theme of Fashion. As a collective we often explore issues relating to Identity and the past. Clothes are a visual representation of self and adapt to the wearer as they are worn, perhaps glimpsing previous wearers’ presence. Lace was one of my links throughout. In the past, lace was intricate and handmade so incredibly valuable. Unlike contemporary fashionistas, even the richest reused and recycled their lace into new garments or just keeping and treasuring a tiny sliver linking them to the past: their own or the memories of previous wearers.
The exhibition continues until April and I would love to invite those who are interested to see the work of the whole group.

These little cabinets of mine are part of the ‘Worn’ exhibition with Decorum Artists at the Whitaker Museum and Gallery in Rawtenstall. The brief was to relate to fashion as art and for me the strange ‘Cabinet of Curiosities’ room at the Whitaker was an inspiration for my own little cabinets of precious things. A further stimulus was Renaissance altarpieces, elaborate and sectioned with little doors which may be closed or opened to reveal or conceal the contents.
The exhibition continues until April so please go to see what we have produced with the aid of the curators there.

Happy Christmas to all my friends and followers.
When there seems so much darkness in our world it's good to know that God has sent Jesus as the light which cannot be extinguished and look to light, truth, hope, harmony, peace and love when much around us encourages darkness, duplicity, despair, separation, conflict and hate.

It was really good to share the opening of my exhibition, 'Worn' with the other members of Decorum and my son Tim.
