Summer Solstice at the Exbury Egg 🥚
Join artist Stephen Turner and Super Slow Way this Sunday for a midsummer gathering at the Exbury Egg.
Marking the longest day of the year, the event will celebrate the Egg’s continuing life in Burnley through conversation and reflection inspired by nature, place and community.
Last year, a Summer Solstice Garden was created in the shape of the Egg’s shadow as it fell at noon on Midsummer’s Day. Alongside horticulturalist Ian Halawi, we will tend to the garden, create hand painted plant signage and once again gather to witness the sun’s shadow reach the garden’s boundary, reconnecting the Egg to the rhythms of the season and its place beside the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.
The gathering will also provide an opportunity to explore new ideas for the future of the Egg, including the possibility of an Exbury Egg Club: a community of participants connected through acts of care for nature, culture and place.
This will be a Jacob’s Join, so please bring food or drink to share if you are able!
