Sorry. We said no more posts for a while! We lied. Huge thank you to Paul Skinny and all the team at Tec Audio Solutions Ltd who provided the stage, audio, lighting and big screen - this year showing performers live. And to Lee Skippy Phillipson - Skippy’s Event Services. At the end of the day Mill Hill Family Festival wouldn’t be what it is without the live music performances and as a group of volunteers we couldn’t possibly do them justice without the professional help of these guys. We’d probably like to make the stage even bigger - but we’d have to take the trees out to do that - and no one wants that!! Thanks again guys.

Nice to see a positive story in today’s Lancashire Telegraph, after last week’s event. The festival committee is going to take a little break to do a full review now. We’re always looking to improve and we tried some new aspects such as the bar and market this year - so we’ll be looking at how we make more of those in future. If you’ve got any suggestions about things you especially liked this year as well as things you think we could improve on please drop us a message. Thanks again Mill Hill - what a blast!

Special mention for Isla McNeal who sang to open this year’s festival. Isla’s family got in touch when we put out a call for new talent. She’s just twelve years old but has an absolutely amazing voice. Massive talent who is surely going places. A privilege to have Isla open for us and we’ll be following her journey in music closely. Thank you Isla.

A special thanks to all the guys at Sliding Doors for your on the day volunteering help. You made a real difference- whether that was looking after the welcome/lost children stall, litter picking, handing out cups and water, moving things in and out of the community centre, we couldn’t have done it without you! We don’t have all your names but will mention as many as we can - Bradley, Ellie-Mai, Richard, Connor, Dee Dee. Feel free to tag people if you want. Ellie and Brad pictured.

Some of our Mill Hill Festival Committee - at the start and end of the day this year. Members of the committee are Julie Astley, Kate O’Loughlin, Kieron Buck, Julie Gunn and Damian Talbot. Kate’s son Dominic is an honorary committee member for heroically putting up with all our meetings to plan the event! This year was the third festival since we re-launched in 2023. You’ll no doubt have seen us around during the festival- which is the culmination of hours and hours of time, work, conversations, planning. But at the end of the day - it’s the people of Mill Hill that make it what it is by turning up and having such a good time. That’s the whole point and we’re so pleased to see how well the event has taken off.

We’re all still buzzing from this year’s festival and will soon take a rest and some time to review the event. Before we do that though we’ll be publishing a couple of important posts - the first being this massive thanks to all our sponsors. Mill Hill Family Festival does not have any core funding and every time we hold the event we have to raise every penny in order to pay for everything. This year’s biggest funder was the National Lottery so we must say our project was made possible thanks to players - if you play the lottery you helped! So thanks! We’ve also got to thank our other loyal sponsors who have continued to support us massively again this year - Great Places, New Ground, Blackburn Rovers Community Trust and Blackburn with Darwen Community CVS your sponsorship has also been crucial to the event happening. And lastly in fundraising terms thanks to the people of Mill Hill and everyone who attended yesterday. During the year we’ve raised almost £200 in bucket collections and yesterday’s collection, with Millie’s help has raised around £360 (we’re still counting it up). All in all absolutely amazing. So thanks to all.

Well Mill Hill! What a day! Superb. We reckon over 5000 people attended today’s festival. We hope you had a great day. The park is already almost spotless. Amazing performances from the singers and bands. Great fun at the activities for kids. And thanks to everyone for looking after their rubbish. And special thanks to Hugo, George and Daynton for your help with litter picking. And thanks to Millie for the bucket collection raising over £330. All in all a great team effort. More thanks to come tomorrow- sponsors especially. Oh and finally thanks to the sun for shining on us for the third time in a row! What a day. ❤️
