My energy bills tripled. Now someone’s wages are being cut.

I’m a small business owner, and I’ve run out of places to cut. So we’re reducing staff hours just to keep the business going.

The hardest part? It’s not only my profit taking the hit. It’s someone’s income.

When costs rise this much, everyone feels it.

The 8am GP scramble shouldn’t feel like a lottery.

People ring, wait, redial and finally get through — only to hear there are no appointments left.

I work on a GP reception desk, and I see the frustration firsthand.

If the system is meant to help patients, why does it feel like it’s designed to put them off?

When you’re in labour, distance matters.

Our local maternity unit was suspended because it couldn’t be safely staffed. Now families face a much longer journey to give birth.

That journey isn’t just miles on a map. It’s extra time, fear and uncertainty when you’re already vulnerable.

Mums and babies deserve safe maternity care within reach.

Band D again? But where’s the improvement?

My street hasn’t been resurfaced in 10 years. Yet the council tax bill keeps coming, and every year it feels like we’re paying more for the same cracked roads and potholes.

I’m not asking for perfection. Just basic maintenance for the money we pay.

Where’s the improvement supposed to be?

Have you seen what they’re charging for petrol now?

Petrol jumped 10.4p a litre in August, with the Middle East conflict pushing wholesale costs higher.

Whatever the reason, drivers feel it every time they pull up at the pump.

A few pence more per litre might not sound like much — until you’re filling the tank every week.

20 weeks waiting. Then a rejection.

My mum is disabled. I’m her carer. Yet after waiting months for a PIP decision, we’re now facing another fight to prove she actually needs help.

When someone is already struggling, the system shouldn’t make them fight again and again just to get the support they’re entitled to.

Wheat prices rise. My price doesn’t.

Meanwhile, everything it takes to grow that wheat keeps getting dearer — fuel, fertiliser, machinery and repairs.

Farmers are working harder while their margins get squeezed from every direction.

If prices are rising along the supply chain, a fair question remains:

Where’s the extra money going?

31p for milk. 50p for a loaf. That was 1990.

Today, that same milk is around 65p and the loaf £1.40.

These aren’t luxuries. They’re basic things people buy every week.

When everyday essentials keep getting more expensive, it’s ordinary households that feel the squeeze.

How did we get here?

10 years on the council housing list. Still waiting.

I keep being told to be patient, but after a decade, you start wondering where the end of the queue actually is.

I’m not asking for anything fancy. I just want somewhere safe and secure that I can genuinely call home.

How long is someone expected to wait?

£200 more a month. Just like that.

My landlord put my rent up and simply said it was the “market rate”. But when you’re already cutting back on everything, £200 isn’t small change — it can mean choosing what bills to pay.

People need a safe, affordable place to live.

When did renting a home become this impossible?
