BISHOPSTONE POTTERY OPEN THIS WEEKEND. SAT/SUN 20th/21st 11.00am - 5.00pm

We will be delighted to welcome you to our pottery this weekend as part of Swindon Open Studios. We have scrubbed the floor and taken down the usual cobwebs to show off our work at its polished best. The last raku firing has produced some new small pots (see photo)and our brand new kiln, which has been test fired several times, is now busy firing some new slip decorated pieces for you.
The weather looks like being quite good this weekend so we hope you’ll be able to have a wander around our cottage garden and a sit in the sunshine. Having said that I’d better rush off and do a bit of weeding.

SWINDON OPEN STUDIOS IS ONLY 12 DAYS AWAY!!
Artists all over the Swindon area are busy preparing their studios to receive visitors for SOS.
Bishopstone Pottery is opening on the 20th and 21st September from 11.00am to 5.00pm. We would love to see you, chatter about our work and, weather permitting, give you the chance to relax a while in our cottage garden.
There are also some very talented artists opening their studios in the surrounding villages. You will not be disappointed. The art is of a very high standard. So make a day of it and enjoy a pleasant time in the countryside with art, scenery and some good pubs for lunch.
See the map below. I will post the list of local artists in the next post as I cannot get it to fit into this post as well.(Sorry IT not my strong point.)
I have lots of brochures for Swindon Open Studios and will put some in my porch if anyone wants to collect one. Alternatively check out local pubs, shops for one.

NEWS FROM THE POTTERY
As you all know I am terrible at keeping you all up to date with news from the pottery. However the last few months have been frustrating as firing after firing in our kiln has produced some disastrous results and left us with ruined ceramics that have taken considerable time to make. A potter’s worst nightmare. It would appear the kiln was over firing and causing sharp pinholes in the glaze. To our horror we discovered the bottom of the kiln had all but fallen out and was ready for the tip. A sad day. It had worked so hard for us for 25 years.
However we are excited to say that our new, slightly bigger kiln arrived yesterday. We just have to get it into place in the pottery, commission it and do a few test firings and, fingers crossed, we will be back in business by the time we open for SWINDON OPEN STUDIOS ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY 20TH/21ST SEPTEMBER.
There are still plenty of ceramics to see and buy and, if you are lucky we may even show you our new kiln!!😄😄
