We are a friendly ballet school and welcome enquiries from children of all abilities as well as adults. Our annual Shows in our in-house theatre are popular events, well supported by the local community. Optional Royal Academy of Dance examinations and Class Awards offered. We are lucky to have the use of two studios at the Birnam Arts Centre which also houses a cafe and shop. Tutors Emma Gray and Kelly McCole are registered teachers for the Royal Academy of Dance.

As part of our ‘Adult Ballet Festival Caledonia’ dancers (children and adults), friends and ballet lovers are invited to join us for a special auditorium screening of The Royal Ballet’s ‘The Sleeping Beauty’ (2017) starring Marianela Nuñez and Vadim Muntagirov.

As part of my required CPD as a Royal Academy of Dance Registered Teacher I have just completed an Open University OpenLearn course ‘Supporting Adult Learners’ Positive Mental Health’.

Very thought provoking and interesting - a time to reflect on my approach to working with adults, both in the studio and online.

‘This course supported demonstration of the following learning outcomes:

recognise barriers to learning which can occur as a result of adult learners’ poor mental health;

identify stigmatised behaviours and common misconceptions about adult learners’ mental health and develop skills which equip educators to reduce stigma in educational practice;

recognise the signs of adult learners’ poor mental health and apply appropriate methods to engage in discussions about their mental health, including signposting to relevant support;

encourage adult learners to use appropriate coping strategies which support positive wellbeing and mental health;

create self-care strategies and skills which support personal positive wellbeing.’ - source - OpenLearn
