Many thanks to everyone who attended our Summer Soul Picnic at Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens on 11th July. ☀️ It truly was amazing!
The weather was incredible and the music was so good! With performances from 6 acts we were blessed with an evening that was so special!🤩
We opened up proceedings with a stripped back performance from Shardae and Sandi. Beautiful, melodic and inspiring songwriting from one of Soul Sessions Brum’s favourite up and coming acts.
This was followed by Soul Grenades, an 8-piece juggernaut of funk, soul and party vibes. 🙌 Traveling from all over the UK to reach the show, Soul Grenades did not disappoint. 🔥With brass, percussion and incredible showmanship, their energetic and captivating performance got the people up on their feet! 🎷🎺💃🏻
Following we had Australian Pianist and songwriter Joel Sarakula, performing a stripped back set of laid back and soulful Yacht Rock and Disco tunes. It was something special.🪩
The one and only Greg Blackman hit the stage next, and his set was a mix of soul classics and a collection of his own funky tracks. Serious vibes! Greg has a voice that just don’t quit! 🎤
Collective Sleepwas the 5th act, and rocked the crowd with their epic funk, soul and psychedelic vibes. The 5-piece act from Birmingham brought the energy and feeling! 🎸
Our final act of the Soul Picnic was Akasha. Their unique blend of genres captivated the audience, while thought provoking lyrics and catchy melodic choruses got the audience involved. A beautiful way to end the night.❤️
Alongside Zen our host with the most was Sandi, who did an amazing job of introducing and welcoming our acts, and making sure everyone bought their merch!😅 Thank you Sandi, you smashed it 🙌
Our sound engineering team of Paul Withers and John were amazing, and had everyone sounding so good! Big thanks! 🎶
Huge thanks to Jack Gunn and our Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens staff, for facilitating another epic event. Our 4th year running and 5th event in total. 🍃
We’re already planning the 2027 edition, so keep your eyes peeled 👀
Our next events are on 23rd August and September 20th from 1 til 4pm at Uplands Allotments in Handsworth in collaboration - Free entry events in a beautiful outdoor space.
