Improvabunga! The Improvised Movie Adventure has unleashed a whole set of wholly improvised cinematic experiences at the Edinburgh Fringe this past week.
For our first fringe show, we performed the Superhero Fantasy set in a Circus: No Funny Business.
When Crusty the clown's boss outlaws laughter in the circus, he searches for a new act. Assisted by evil Elephant Man's secret serum, he develops laser eyes and super strength. Taken under the 'wings' of trapeze artists, Terry and Jenna, Crusty uses his powers in a faceoff against Elephant Man. Will Crusty save New York State? Will Elephant Man reign supreme? And most importantly, what will happen to the circus?
Followed swiftly by a Western Thriller set on a deserted island: This Island Ain't Big Enough for the Both of Us.
When Robert Robertson washes up on a desert island in search of gold, the last person he expected to meet was a bewitchingly beautiful mermaid called Lucy- with interpretive dance moves to match. As Robert falls under her spell, elsewhere on the high seas a pirate captain and his sidekick Patti are looking for gold as well, and end up reaching the shores of the same island. But it's called Crab Island for a reason, and the schemes of one dastardly crab, with the help of his mysterious potion 'Crab Juice' threaten to throw everything off the rails. Will one of the pirates figure out what's going on before everyone is turned into crabs? What happened to Patti's father, who died in mysterious circumstances years ago? And- most importantly- is this island big enough for the both of them?
Then, beginning our terrifying double-feature, a Haunted House Horror set at a Wedding: My Wife is Secretly a Werewolf.
One romantic night, Steve proposes to his long-term partner Elsie. Only to discover that Elsie hosts a dark secret... At the same time, twin sisters Mildred and Jill turn their creepy manor into a wedding venue in the hopes of luring unsuspecting lovers to their demise. Will Jill turn out to be a ghost all along? Will Steve become a victim of his in-laws? And will Elsie be able to temper her dark passenger long enough to make it to the vows?
Finally, an end to rival the greats, a Cult Horror
