Such a beautiful and powerful afternoon yesterday. I truly enjoyed every moment.

We had the privilege of hearing from British actor who spoke movingly about his father’s experience as part of the Windrush Generation, and the ongoing injustice of the Windrush scandal, a reminder that this is not just history, but still impacting lives today.

He also shared his journey with Prostate Cancer, encouraging Black men especially to get checked and prioritise their health.

I was really impressed by how these heavy topics were woven together with such honesty and care, and it made the message land even deeper.

There was a strong sense of unity, reflection, and shared strength in the room. It truly meant a lot to be there.

I was saddened to hear about the sudden passing of Cllr Waseem Zaffar. He was a frequent guest on my radio show, always bringing a calm, warm and genuine presence. His passion for public service and his commitment to the community he represented were evident in everything he did.

Thinking of his family, friends, colleagues, and all those across our city whose lives he touched.
