💜 SCALLYWAGS AT THE FORT, BIRMINGHAM — 2008–2026 💜
On Sunday 23 August, after our final parties and the last children went home, we closed the doors at Scallywags at The Fort, Birmingham for the final time.
We’re heartbroken. We fought hard to keep going, but we’ve reached the point where we simply can’t continue. Scallywags Birmingham Ltd is insolvent and is being placed into liquidation.
The honest reason is that the ground moved under us. When funded childcare expanded to two-year-olds and under-twos, the weekday families that businesses like ours depend on had somewhere else to be. New competitors opened nearby, costs kept rising, and a long hot summer did the rest.
We adapted, invested and kept going for as long as we could — but some changes are bigger than determination.

Please don’t worry. Your deposit or payment has been set aside and will be refunded in full.
We are contacting every affected family directly by email to arrange refunds. Please keep refund correspondence by email where possible:

For your security, we will never ask for your password, PIN or card details, and we will never ask you to make a payment in order to receive your refund.

To every family who came through our doors — thank you. For the parties, the rainy Tuesday mornings, the coffees while the children wore themselves out, the recommendations to friends. Most of all, for trusting us with so many of your children’s happiest afternoons.
To our team, past and present — thank you. You were Scallywags. The building was just a building until you filled it with noise and games and patience and daft voices. Thousands of children have a happy memory because of you.
For 18 years, children have played, laughed, celebrated birthdays and made memories at Scallywags at The Fort. We’re devastated it’s ended this way. We’re also incredibly proud of what it meant to so many families.
