'Our Health, Our Stories' is an evening of reflection and awareness, featuring script-in-hand performances of monologues from the wealth of our work over the years! We strive to emphasising how the purpose of HABrum, how art builds a healthier, fairer and more resilient community, has been at our heart all along.
Featuring extracts from:
The Cervical Monologues – our first-ever monologue production, exploring women's lived experiences while demystifying cervical screening.
Talking Balls – comedic monologues erecting awareness and reducing the stigma surrounding male cancers.
Looking Back, Moving Forward – monologues inspired by the lived experiences of Birmingham's 50+ LGBTQ+ community, celebrating progress while reflecting on the journey towards equality.
The Power of Narrative – a collection of women's experiences of gynaecological cancers, encouraging conversations around testing, treatment and support.
Local actors Alison Belbin, Adaya Henry and Keiren Hamilton-Amos are joined by director Lorna Laidlaw to present this script-in-hand performance, sharing stories that explore health, lived experience and the power of storytelling.
