3BUGS Fringe Theatre is the University of Birmingham’s society dedicated to the creation and support of off-the-wall, alternative and experimental theatre at the University! We stage exciting and alternative performances every term, run experimental workshops, and every year take shows up to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival! Anyone can propose a play to direct and we, the committee, will support you

🐛 Proposals are now open for our Term 3 Show!

🪲 We're looking for small-scale shows with casts of 8 or fewer

Get your bug costumes ready because the Creepy Crawly is taking place NEXT TUESDAY 🪲 3rd of March at 7.30pm

Come join us on our Creepy Crawly Bar Crawl to raise money to take our show to the Fringe and to celebrate 3Bugs’ Birthday!

The Creepy Crawly is for EVERYONE, you do not need to be a 3bugs member or even have been involved in a 3bugs show to join! The more the merrier!

We’ll have challenges along the way as well as prizes for teams who collect the most points. You can join the bar crawl even if you don’t want to take part in the challenges so no pressure!

There is a strongly suggested donation fee of £3 to take part in the Creepy Crawly, as it is a fundraiser! Please don’t forget to bring cash 💰

We’ll be starting at Joe’s Bar at 7.30pm where challenges and rules will be explained but we’ll be putting updates on our story when we move locations so feel free to join us at any point down the line 🏁

Finally, if you love a Boogie Tuesday at The Night Owl, don’t fear because that’s where we’ll be going for our Creepy Crawly after party…

We are so excited to announce our Creepy Crawly bar crawl in celebration of 3bugs’ birthday on the 3rd of March (don’t fact check that!)🪲

There will be stops, there will be challenges, there will be prizes and there will be BUGS 🐛

Come dressed as your favourite bug and be ready to crawl through Selly Oak (not literally) 🐞

You’ll be happy to hear this is all for a good cause - raising money to take our annual show to the fringe! 🕷️

We are so excited to announce our 2026 Edinburgh Fringe show ‘Dust: The Sixth Sense’

Dust: The Sixth Sense is an aﬀective, sensory-forward play, with the narrative orienting around sensations and relationships. The central narrative arc is that of GIRL and DUST; tragic, young lovers whose mutual obsession with each other threatens exactly what materialises them. Who materialised them: their mothers, MOTHER and AIR, further this. Both women who neglect through absence and silences rather than loud cruelty. Our lovers never had a chance, for their mothers didn’t either. Alongside them stands NARRATOR, a fractured voice who, having lost his soul, begins to possess MOTHER, collapsing memory, guilt, and authority into one body.

The world of Dust: The Sixth Sense is founded on five fragmented voices navigating love withheld and care deferred. And what a world you will enter into. Experience the all-new, originally composed soundtrack for this play. Encounter what it means to grieve and see the world through, Dust: The Sixth Sense.

We are so excited to announce our term 2 show ‘The Interludes of Sherlock Holmes’ 🕵️

Auditions are starting on Monday next week so sign up to audition at the link in our bio! The audition extracts will also be available at the link in our bio.

Synopsis:

Sherlock Holmes, disillusioned by the apathy and incompetence of the police force, takes it up on himself to solve London’s greatest mysteries and expose criminals to the general public. Recently, there has been someone else who has been very involved in his work, his new flatmate John Watson, probably Sherlock’s only friend and greatest mystery yet as he attempts to answer the question: Why are they friends?

Meanwhile, someone is leaving arms around West London, and legs, and other appendages. Decomposing on the doorsteps of unwitting victims. Who is doing this? And why? Disgruntled, disgusted and a teeny bit frightened, London can turn only to Sherlock Holmes. That is, if he can evade the police enough to actually solve it…

💚 Are you interested in directing a show?

✨️ We're now accepting proposals for our term two show, to be performed in the Rosa Parks at the Guild on the 22nd-24th of March.

✨️ Proposals should have a cast of no more than 8 performers and a small budget.

✨️ The deadline for proposal packs is Saturday the 24th of January, which will be followed by a meeting on the 25th.

✨️ For guidance on how to make a pack, please see the model proposal packs on our linktree, and please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
